Yeah but Indecent Proposal was based on the novel of the same name written before Honeymoon on Vegas. I believe the novel was written in 1988.
Maybe the writers of Honeymoon in Vegas 'borrowed' the concept for their movie from the 'Indecent Proposal' book.

Indecent Proposal was so much better. It had a much better cast too. Redford, Harrleson and Moore are so much better than Caan, Cage and Parker

Indecent Proposal was better casted but the concept doesn't really work in a serious drama(billionaire offers a man an absurd amount of money to prostitute his wife). Even worse was the "love conquers all" ending. Just ridiculous all the way through. Honeymoon in Vegas wasn't much better but at least the plot makes sense in the confines of a zany comedy.

Although those two films are not typical remakes, they have many things in common. They both have the same basic idea, the same plot and they even take place in Las Vegas. The main difference is that the first one is pure Hollywood comedy, and the other one has the more serious approach. Although none of the movies is the masterpiece, there is slight advantage in the favour of the comedy.

I did notice the similarity! Cage as always gives an outstanding performance in a hollywood comedy (which is hard to do). Sarah Jessica Parker is absolutely stunning and beaming (she was around 26 when the film was made).
shareYeah, I thought they were good. And yeah, there are definite similarities. It could be this film was inspired by IP like Danny Boyle (who directed 28DL) said 28 Days Later was inspired by I Am Legend, I remember people were calling IAL a rip off of 28 Days Later when it came out.

I'm watching this for the first time, and I severely disagree. Indecent Proposal was TEN TIMES better than this. This is supposed to be a stupid comedy (success there), but I'm absolutely hating this movie (which is a shame, because I really like Caan and Cage, but I'm not a Parker fan), whereas I LOVED Indecent Proposal which is more of a drama (and I am not a big Harrelson fan and I'm not a Moore fan at all, and I can take or leave Redford). So, it's not the actors, it's the movies. Same story, but put together very differently, and as a result, for me, Indecent Proposal is a far superior film than Honeymoon in Vegas.
