PUT THIS ON DVD!!

why not, everything is, this movie is very entertaining

It's an honest shame that this delightfully quirky and original one-of-a-kind horror/comedy/action/adventure oddity has yet to come out on DVD. It's a very offbeat and highly enjoyable film that's worthy of greater popularity and appraisal. I too would buy a DVD of this baby in a minute and gladly add it to my already substantial ever-growing collection.

I have actually been looking for this movie for a long time and just happened to stumble across this board today. I didn't realize there were so many people that remembered it. It is a great "B" movie that I would really like to see on DVD.

reply

Hell yeah,I just saw it today on fox.Best movie ever!!!!!

reply

I totally agree! I would really like the have this on DVD.
It was 2 or 3 times on tv some years ago....
But I'm not even living in the US, so have to wait even longer :(

I've yet to watch this movie from beginning to end, when it came out my Dad didn't let me watch it (even though I was interested).
I have watched it several times but right after they escape (hell city?) in the Hellcop squad car, from there to the end.

One of the funny quirks is that the closing titles/epilogue feature AC/DC's "Highway to Hell", most appropiate. This is why ACDC always reminds me of this movie...

TICK TOCK TICK TOCK...STILL WAITING

reply

Agreed. I can't think of any reason not to put this out. Especially in light of the fact that since it came out Ben Stiller is a big enough name to sell units (provided whoever releases it does the disingenuous marketing trick of listing on the box a supporting player as if he's one of the stars). Anyway, it's a good, fun, imaginative little flick. It deserves a DVD release. Widescreen, if that's how it was shot.

So there's not going to be a dvd release? Is there anyplace where I can view this movie? I would love to buy a dvd, if it existed. Yet the only VHS copies floating around are selling for $25-$64, which is outrageous. Can anyone help me out please?

reply

I've got on both VHS & dvd back-up :-) haven't seen in years thou.

If they were to get flooded with demands to release the film on DVD they would have to do it.

reply

I couldn't agree more, I have fond memories of this movie.

reply

Any updates as to whether this will ever be released on dvd?

reply

I LOVE this film. Has anyone heard anything at all about the possibility of this hitting DVD? I emailed blue underground, dark sky films, Elite Ent., Synapse Films, Anchor Bay. I think everyone should try to send them an email. It's really easy and only takes second.

But with EXTRAS, like commentary with the director Ate de Jong & Kristy Swanson...

Absolutely! I dunno why I got into this movie so much, it just impressed me. There is a number of low budget films that should be put on DVD. Return of Swamp Thing is the recent one that did. Highway to Hell, Miracle Beach, Hot to Trot(I haven't seen that on DVD ANYWHERE), and Howard the Duck.
