Anyone else see this just because they are Dinosaur Jr. Fans

I first saw this movie because I am a fan of the 80's/90's rock group Dinosaur Jr. If found the ending with Jay Mascis as Cecil as hillarious, but over time I have grown to enjoy the entire film. It's not the best film ever made, but it is worth watching on a Saturday afternoon when you have nothing else to do.

Yeah, I have to say that's how I first saw the film. I definitely enjoy the film for non J Mascis reasons as well. An (ex)girlfriend of mine wore her VHS copy out by rewinding and watching the Mascis scene over and over again.

no. the nick cave/barry admamson connection brought me to it. Underrated film though.

I didn't get turned onto Dinosaur Jr until Out There was out and I'm almost certain that I saw Gas, Good, Lodging without knowing who Mascis was at the time. I bought the movie a couple years ago and saw in the opening credits that he did most of the music then noticed he played Cecil during the ending credits.

I think the incidental music is very decent... And approachable even for non rock type fans.

I watched it aged about 15 because of the Dinosaur Jr connection, and I'm 27 now and love it more with every viewing. Shame you can't get it on R2 in the UK - my VHS copy is an ex-library one, the picture is all wibbly and unfortunately the soundtrack is too!

I watched it years ago because I'd read the book AND loved Ione Skye...but then I realized, hey that is J Mascis...which made me like the movie even more!

I saw it because I am a Mi Vida Loca fan, the J Mascis cameo was a nice little surprise bonus. I'd noticed in the opening credits that he scored the film, so it didn't seem completely out of the blue to me.
