Question about bribing minosa torres

Ok Torres was a prisoner at the jail. So my question is how do you bribe someone who can't spend money anyway what did Cane give him?

reply

He could put money on his "books". This means inmates can have cash applied to their account. Inmates' accounts are like debit accounts they can buy things from the prison store. Its called commisary. Things like candy bars toothpaste shoes or anything else approved by the warden

reply

Ok but if menosa is found to take a bribe couldn't the warden take the money away

reply

Gabe knows when he wins, he'll be the county boss, therefore the warden will be in his pocket. So nothing bad is going to happen to Torres.

What's he going tho do admit he was trying to fix a fight but Gabe fixed it first?

reply

Keep in mind. Torres may not be in prison forever, so he can get the money when he gets out. Also, Caine probably has methods of getting contraband into prison that Torres can use. After all, if he can get people out of prison, it would be easier to get some contraband in.

reply

Caine probably had his sting all set up hoping (knowing) that Palmer would prevail.

Just watched this movie and I am sure Cane didn't know about Torres and he didn't bribe him. Torres is an inmate so Cane used his influence to tell Torres to lose. I can assume that the prisoners are on the same side against the law and corrupt officials, and especially after Wolf was murdered, Cane just asked Torres to lose. I am also sure that Torres will be rewarded by Cane after all, he is in debt to him. But it was not agreed upon before the match. The movie is a bit simplistic in his approach, so even if it doesn't look realistic nowdays, this is a 90's movie.

Gabriel specialized in helping inmates escape

That’d certainly be an incentive even if Torres hadn’t been in on it from the start

That said, seems pretty clear that Gabriel knew they’d use an inmate, probably Torres, as the last fighter. He was actually only surprised by Hammerhead
