Pike vs Angel

Saw a thread where someone claimed the original character Pike was turned into the character of Spike for the TV version. Sadly I was not big on the TV show and only saw bits n pieces of it but from what I recall Angel was/is a vampire.

So wondering if perhaps the idea came from Luke Perry's character since himself and the actor whom played Angel somewhat resemble one another. But the TV show opted out of a set up w/ Pike but to have Buffy (which was more darker than the version for the movie) to be w/ a new type of love interest in form of Angel.

Also that brings me to another issue ~ when the TV came out was it mentioned to what happened to Pike or did they pick up away from the movie?

Poop in his hand ... Poop in his hand

I'm not sure about the answer to your first question, but in the TV show Pike isn't mentioned at all.

Love doesn't make the world go round. Love is what makes the ride worthwhile.

The only actual similarity between the movie and the series is that there is a character named Buffy. Josh Whedon hated what the production execs did with the movie so I doubt he kept much from the movie when he did the series.

I think Pike was split into Oz Angel and Xander for the TV series sell.

Spike came along second season.

I think Spike is actually the "mirror image" of Giles--who had actually been been 'bad' and rebellious before he accepted what he was supposed to do and become a watcher.

'Ripper' wore leather, drank, cursed and smoked---like Spike

Yes spike smokes even though he is dead and cannot breathe!!

We saw as a human William was well, nerdy and bookish....like guess who when he DID finally accept his destiny as a Watcher.
