Why Didn't Batman Save the Ice Princess?

He just stood there whilst she was attempting to get away from the bats.

Admittedly, she was dumb and could easily have hopped forward off the ledge, but that wasn't Batman's judgement to make. He should take the imperilled as he finds them, and even very dumb people deserve rescuing.
