I kinda got the feeling that...

... despite, SPOILERS ALERT, Sharon Stone's character basically being a cold blooded murderer, who has killed quite a few people (most of whom did NOT deserve to die) and probably will kill again, we, as audience, because of her looks and erotic scenes, are highly meant to like her and in a way, we are not meant to want her to be arrested for it and killed for it, right?

And we could understand it when Michael Douglas ultimately falls for her, correct?

Except in REAL LIFE, besides the fact that female characters like her are far less likely to be killers of men of course, its not really likely that say a character of her would radiate enough sensual energy so much that if most of us knew she killed people, we would fall for her and let those other deeds go just like that.

Or maybe the movie DIDN'T MEAN to make us think along those lines at all? Maybe it was just trying to, in its own weird and crazy movie-like way, pose intellectual questions about various things including human sexuality but it just HAPPENED to ask how we would react if a gorgeous woman like Sharon Stone from this movie turned out to be a killer, should we condemn her for her actions like we would if it was a MAN who was a killer like that, and not JUST legally either (it does ask about legal sides as well, and its probably no coincidence Douglas' character is a cop, but there are other sides to it too, right?)
