Keitel deserved an oscar

Keitel deserved an oscar but perhaps this performance goes beyond an oscar
For Keitel, this is the Scorsese film that Scorsese never gave him, in which he gets to elbow Robert De Niro away from center stage and take the best part for himself. He seizes the opportunity: Bad Lieutenant immediately becomes one of the defining roles of his career.

I totally agree! I think Harvey Keitel deseved the Oscar for Best Actor in a leading role even if Al Pacino won the Oscar for Scent of a Woman that year!!!

reply

Absolutely. Keitel's performance is truly award worthy; it's fearless and passionate.

What do you think this is, a signature? It's a way of life!

I agree. Every time I look at this film, I wonder why I am looking at this film and it's Keitel.

He should have won the Oscar. The fact that he wasn't even nominated has got to be one of the biggest oversights in Academy history.

Couldn't agree more.

I agree. He was excellent.

I didn't realise he wasn't even nominated. Kinda up there with Perkins not being nominated for Psycho.
