Factual and Mis-information

How factual is this film? What is stretched and what is condensed into fact... (example: Did he really hit 3 homers his last game with the Braves and then quit?)

I really don't know much about the man, and while I thought the movie could be a lot better, I wasn't sure what to believe and what liberties the filmmaker choose...

thanks in advance

Arthur Hiller should be ashamed for the way he portrayed Ruth in this movie. Ruth was shown to be a clumsy oaf which he wasn't. He was a superb athlete and really only put on the weight near the end of his career. It was a horrible movie in every way imaginable. The directing, the acting, the sets, the screenplay. Easily the worst baseball movie ever, without exception.

1) This film was such a missed opportunity. John Goodman was a great choice to play Ruth (though others have noted, a younger actor in the early scenes would have been good). It is however such a sour, mean spirited movie, the direct opposite of Ruth himself.

2) I will not say it is the worst baseball film ever made, however, or even the worst film about Babe Ruth. I have seen The Babe Ruth Story, with William Bendix, and he was totally wrong for the part.

3} The best performance ever as Babe Ruth is still Babe Ruth in "Pride of the Yankees".In this case no mere actor can compare with the real thing.

It is not our abilities that show who we truly are...it is our choices

I'm shocked that there was no mention of his gay brother..............Gabe Ruth.
