About Clemens

I just watched the Assembly Cut for the first time today and I've got a crazy thought...

What if the company sent Clemens to the beach to look for possible survivors/xenomorphs at the beginning of the movie? The company may have known exactly what happened in board the Sulaco as soon as it happened.

He's a company man. He's got an interest in Ripley obviously, but could it have been because the company briefed him on her history and what was on board?

It would have been so great to find this out in the movie. The tension/betrayal would be multiplied since she slept with him.

Also, they could have explained that Clemens was injecting her with something to slow the gestation of the queen alien , to ensure that it wouldn't be born until the Weyland-Yutani crew got there.

Possible but if that was the case the story would have eventually revealed that to illustrate clemens wasn't innocent after all. We were all supposed to feel bad for him so the story would be negligent if it didn't reveal that to us. Clemens seemed to be the only likable character in the film as he wasn't a criminal but had a tragic history that brought him to Fury 161.

I think Kate realises that , and is suggesting it would have been better to ditch the good guy and have another bad guy.

It seems a bit like layering extra story in for the sake of it though, and would have been really tough on Ripley!
