Trailer begins with teenager evading justice

If the soldiers had caught the youth, what would he have faced? The hangman's noose? The severing of his hands? It makes you wonder how Disney can promote this irresponsible behaviour - after all, the youth should've handed himself in for punishment instead of delaying the inevitable.

I think you miss the point. It's supposed to be about how bad things were in older times where unless you were royalty, you were screwed over and had to break the law to make ends meet. If anything watching this should make you say, "I am glad I live when I do in the free country I live in so that I don't have to steal like Aladdin does in this movie.

reply

The law is the law, you MUST OBEY IT.

reply

In all cases? What about when the laws themselves are unjust or immoral?

reply

Those were unfair times, and the poor had no-one to speak for them. This is a fact of life for any early society.

reply

You're insane!

reply

Unfortunately, the real world is harsh, especially back then. Unfortunately, Disney sanitises early societies so that they're happy and colourful and everyone is equal- oh, no, wait, even Disney knows that life in past centuries was cruel: they showed the hanging of a cabin boy in the third Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Now that's education.

reply

Severing of hands isn't exactly "just," now is it?
