Last Act Question

The killer runs out of the room where he was fighting with Nick and Nick is following behind when suddenly Nick appears beside of him and grabs him. My question is did Nick fly past him so fast the killer didn't see him? No where in the series is Nick portrayed or is it insinuated that he has the ability to go through solid objects, so I'm thinking that didn't happen here.
