Your favourite moment in the film

Just wondering what peoples favourite moment/moments in the film are.

Personally for me it's when Lecter escapes his holding cell and impersonates the wounded police officer, and while in the back of the ambulance sits up and pulls his temporary disguise off when the music hits the big crescendo, that's when you know Lecters in control. Fantastic stuff

As you can probably tell i'm a new IMDb user.

"The blackest eyes....the devils eyes" - Dr Loomis

Talking about my first viewing,I should definitely mention:
-Buffalo Bill's dance to ''Goodbye horses''
-Hannibal/Clarice's dialogue in Washington and the telling of the lamb story(it is as atmospheric as it can be,no matter how many viewings).
Through the years,I noticed the power of:
-the moment at Bill's house, just before Clarice draws out her gun, where he just smiles(you can shiver as much as her, being in front of a serial killer all alone and noticing just then)
-the murder of the two guards, which is very well directed,as well as the end of the escape sequence(no spoilers!!!)
-the closing scene,of course, with the famous line ''I'm having..''and Hannibal rising calmly off the chair and following-you know who-in the crowd.

The scene when Clarice first went down towards Lecter's cell & the background 'music' gets lower & lower the deeper she gets, with just a sort of rumbling coming from the speakers (switch the sub-bass ON) ...

That just brought the whole ominous atmosphere to the visit right up there into your head :-)

Agreed! Also, notice how jack Crawford instructed clarice to take note of what lecter was painting in his cell. When she asked lecter he said " ahh, that's the duomo seen from the belvedere ". "Belvedere"ohio is where jame gumb lived and was eventually caught. Seems like lecter was subtlety letting the FBI know how to catch buffalo bill in the very first meeting he had with clarice. Absolutely brilliant writing

Every scene is masterful. I really enjoyed the scene were clarice enters buffalo bills house, and the moment when he realizes she is aware that he's jame gumb. Clarice- "Can I use your phone" gumb- "sure you can use my phone" clarice-"FREEZE" gumb- chuckling then fumbles business cards in his hands and does a 180 into the kitchen and grabs his gun on the stove. AWESOME!!
No doubt my fave movie of all time. I'm embarrassed to say how many times I've seen it

1. Lecter escaping (the scene in the ambulance is particularly chilling)

2. Clarice's story about the ranch and the screaming lambs

3. Clarice meeting Lecter for the first time

4. Buffalo Bill's exotic dance number

5. the climax at Buffalo Bill's house

6. Lecter's final telephone call to Clarice

I just watched this for the first time as an adult (made myself wait since I was a teen until I was older to understand it better,) and it was as solid as I hoped.
The whole movie was full of good moments.

I guess my favorite was the ending battle with Bill and Clarice. So much tension there and such a foreboding atmosphere. The score was excellent and added to it as you really felt that anything could have happened there. Plus Cathrine being a dumbass and not shutting up made for an annoyance to make you feel more emotions. You felt for Clarice there.

All of Lector's scenes were classics and priceless he was truely right for that role.

Loved the ending credits score too. First time in a true while I have been creeped out by a music piece. Howard Shore did a great job with the score.

I know many people might not pick the scene but I really love the scene where Clarice is talking to Stacy in that pharmacy cafรฉ place, there was like such realism to that scene.
I also love the scene where Buffalo Bill kidnaps Catherine. I just remember being so scared the first time I saw that.

"People will say we're in love."

More of a favorite line than favorite moment, but what a great line.

That magnificent moment of recognition between Clarice Starling and Jame Gumm. She realises who he is and he realises she knows, both at the same time....sends shivers down my spine every time I see it.

Bill's dance with the 'penis between the legs' finale. So bizarre the first time seeing it (or should I say not seeing it!)๎€Š
