Your favourite moment in the film

Just wondering what peoples favourite moment/moments in the film are.

Personally for me it's when Lecter escapes his holding cell and impersonates the wounded police officer, and while in the back of the ambulance sits up and pulls his temporary disguise off when the music hits the big crescendo, that's when you know Lecters in control. Fantastic stuff

As you can probably tell i'm a new IMDb user.

that's my favorite part too!

Any scene with both Anthony Hopkins and Jodie Foster, especially the scene where Clarice is describing trying to save the lambs.

Also, the last scene... "I'm having an old friend for dinner."

That scene is so haunting. No music playing over the dialogue, just echoes throughout the room as the two go at it. It's my favorite scene of the movie and one of my all time favorite movie scenes.

The first time Clarice meets Lecter and the whole following exchange. A master acting given by both actors. It's chilling. Especially when Lecter 'dresses her down' (including the West Virginia accent he employs while doing it! Love it!)

All the scenes with Hannibal and Clarice when he's in his Cell in the Mental Hospital.

I really love the entire movie, but a few favorite scenes that stand out are when Clarice first meets Hannibal, later when Clarice describes the lamb story to him, the escape scene and the final scene in Buffalo Bill's home. The score is truly excellent and adds a lot to these scenes, such as when Clarice unholsters her gun, or in the scene the OP described when the music hits a high note as Hannibal "unmasks" himself in the ambulance.

When he's in the prison "cell" in Tennessee -- waiting to be transferred -- Clarice returns his drawings to him... and his finger glides over hers... That was an overwhelming moment of sexuality for them.

reply

I wouldn't necessarily describe it as a sexually charged for either, but it was a moment of intimacy for sure. Like they had become the kindred spirits now. And, of course, a goodbye.

I really love the score when you see the gun on the stove and the camera zooms back , so intense

" duomo seen from the belvedere". "Belvedere" Ohio of coarse is where buffalo bill was caught. Lector in his own way was telling the FBI how to catch Buffalo bill in his first meeting with clarice. What a brilliant film!

reply

Yeah man, I didn't see that one coming. Great scene

Has to be When Clarice first meets Hannibal, and the classic shot of Hannibal just standing in his cell so straight staring at Clarice was brillant!

The ambulance scene.

My personal favorite is the scenes when he makes a psychological description of Bill. When he talks about, the book Meditations by Marcus Aurelius trying to explain why Bill was killing those womens.

The first meeting of clarice with Hannibal

Mine is also the prison escape scene. Basically every second from just before the guards enter the cell, up until he reveals himself in the ambulance. Really great film-making. Really suspenseful and thrilling to watch.
