One of the best endings...ever?

*SPOILER ALERT*

Ok, It might just be me, but I think this moive had one of the greatest endings ever. I mean the whole ending scene in which she is running with ther past self and all her past friends. I just felt that it was an amazingly beautiful scene. Plus, I loved this movie.

Another person who is happy he's not the only one.
For a few seconds, when the camera stayed on the old man, I thought well that's the end. However, the next scene was the best of the movie and something I will remember for a long time. Never seen anything like it before and I probably never will again.

best ending ever for japan animation, in USA we could choose Toy Story 3's ending. It's sad too, actually I not cried ( cause i'm a man?) but I just love this movie because it make me to recall back my childhood experienced that have so many thing to chewed-off.

the way the credits just kept rolling while an important turn of events occurred made it REALLY stand out as your typical romance ending.

Indeed. Absolutely overwhelming.

Such a simple, but extraordinary movie!

It is a memorable ending due to its emotional impact. Now that Taeko has found a place where she can truly connect, she is able to let go of her childhood despair. Hence Taeko's childhood self letting Taeko drive away towards her new life, leaving the past behind.

I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not.

Watch The Tale of the Princess Kaguya if you want to see another amazing movie ending...

It was an amazing ending, I couldn't help but tear up...

Yes, the end is amazing. I bought the DVD from Amazon UK about a year ago, so I had seen it before. But, I saw it again tonight at the IFC (Waverly) theater, and the ending was just overwhelming. It was fun to see it with an audience.

IFC had a complete Studio Ghibli retrospective (I think it was complete) in December 2015, although I'm from out of town so this is the only one I've seen at the IFC. The Amherst cinema had a complete (I believe) retrospective over the summer 2015.

God, I teared up at the end.
It amazes me how many Japanese films are able to generate such a powerful ending scenes.
Sublime.

I stopped watching as soon as the credits started to roll and completely missed the ending. I came to IMDB to look at the trivia section for this movie and then read one of the reviews where they mentioned the ending and I had no idea what they were talking about since I found the ending disappointing. I then came to the message board and saw people talking about kids on the train and realized I totally missed the key part of this film. Fortunately I still had the DVD so I could watch the ending. I wonder how many other people saw this and stopped watching when the credits began to roll as I did?
