... SPOILERS, that taxi driver literally talked that passenger to death, did it not in any way occur to him and did he not see that he was tired of his incessant talk and could he not have the dignity to close his mouth at all?

Not sure what kind of answer you expect here. Of course it didn't occur to him, that's the point of his segment.
