Okay, so she tells the story twice to the cops?

I have not watched this movie in a long time, so pardon my mistakes in the plot.

I always thought that first Demi Moore (Cynthia) was telling the story that she and Joyce fabricated. Then she has the flashback and they reveal what exactly happened. Then, she come backs to the staion (?) and now she is ready to tell the truth.

But now I am not so sure about that. Was she thinking about what she was going to say (going over her/their story) before going to the police. So at the end when she walks into the station is its actually the first time she is going to her version of the facts?

Maybe she got scared about what Joyce was going to say and decided to come back to the station and tell the truth.

"If you are not here to bring me joy, then get the hell out of my life!"

I think that the only bit she lied about, was what happened the night Jimmy died up until the headlights from those rowdy young men's vehicle shone in their faces. All the rest of the film is the truth, which is why when you see the film again, your opinion of the two characters changes while viewing the same scenes as before.

Cynthia would only have had to tell the cops the beginning of the story (the bit you get a flashback of in the car). I believe she goes back and tells them because Harvy Keitel's character suspected Cynthia killed Jimmy all along, and he made her feel guilty at the end for allowing her friend to take the fall for both murders.

I think that Joyce *did* kill Cynthia's husband, but what the flashback to the real events of that night reveals, is why Cynthia didn't think that Joyce was threatening to kill *her* husband - it sounded to her like she was threatening to go to her husband and tell him who really killed Jimmy.

It cool, how when she's telling the story the first time, you are going, okay, makes sense she's being a good friend to Joyce. but upon watching it a second time, when you know the whole truth, you see how joyce was manipulating her into doing things BECAUSE she did it.

always love to pop this movie in.

She is going to tell the truth at the end. She realizes that she can't live with the guilt over what happened and she knows that she didn't mean to kill Jimmy. It was in self defense after he tried to rape her.

And to me it was Joyce who is reponsible for Jim's death because she refused to get him to hospital even thought Cynthia wanted to.

Exactly.
