Mysterious poetry, wonderful and dangerous.
Love The End, the surrealistic apocalyptic feel just suits me late in the evening when I generally listen to it. The same goes for Celebration of the Lizard.
For fun songs to listen to on the road or in the house I like Light my Fire, Touch Me, Wishful Sinful and Tell all the People.
The End..
It's one of the best songs ever written/performed. Haunting, poetic. Touches perfection imho.
Come on baby, take a chance with us..

"Why are you wearing that stupid man-suit?"
Agree 100%...
my comment was going to be has anyone penned a more original, ethereal poem/song in the last 40+ years?
the fact the song has to be studied in depth to really understand it says everything about it...
'When you're Strange' also comes close to capturing the same magic...
LA Woman because I love Jim's voice on that song and Crystal Ship because it's so relaxing and hypnotic -- it takes me back to another time; I close my eyes and everything is purple and I'm in the psychadelic 60's!
shareMy favorite Doors song is "You're Lost Little Girl" from their "Strange Days" album because of Robby Krieger's great guitar playing and Jim Morrison's singing. But I also want to mention their entire self titled "The Doors" album because it is one of my all time favorite albums. Among the eleven great songs on this album are "The Crystal Ship" a hypnotic balad, "Light My Fire" a rocker classic, "Twentieth Century Fox", "Alabama Song (Whisky Bar)", "Back Door Man", and "The End" a really dark unique classic.
shareJust love People are Strange, Moonlight Drive...and all the others :)
Im just 28, from Europe, but dream about being in a convertible, listening to moonlight drive somewhere in America with my Pam...
The End & Brake on Through

Yeah, man, but what's "BRAKE on Through?" Did Jim write that while running a stoplight?

That's so lame.
These are my 2 favs as well....
LA Woman and Crystal Ship
~Just another freak in the freak kingdom.~
The End
People Are Strange
Moonlight Drive - I wasn't really into The Doors and a friend of mine was singing it and the lyrics caught my attention, then when I saw the movie and it's the lyrics that they have Val sing I totally fell in love.
People are strange - That song is just too damn true.
Whiskey, Mystics And Men - All because of the lyrics: First there were women and
Children obeying the moon, Then daylight brought wisdom And fever and sickness too soon.

'The End' was song that was never the same twice. It still isn't even on record. You always find something new there every time you listen to it.
The song only had a few set lyrics to it, and Morrison improvised for most of it every time The Doors performed it. It is truly one of the most incredible songs ever written, and there will never be another one quite like it.
I also love most of the Doors' bluesy stuff.
We break through the Ethereal, only to discover that reality is a dark and hideous thing
The Crystal Ship - it's got beautiful keyboard section. Slow and groovy.
shareMy favourite is Don't you love her madly, from the L.A Woman albumn. I purchased the albumn recently for a fiver from ASDA, what a bargain.
sharei'm no good at choosing favourites, i'll just name a few
riders on the storm -first one i ever heard, and an amazing song
crystal ship - no one else could sing so delicately and smoothly
alabama song - nice n'quirky
NOT TO TOUCH THE EARTH - amazingly intense!!
spanish caravan - top marks to robbie and ray
yes the river knows - just a great tune
touch me - for some reason this one with it's poppy horn arrangement just works
people are strange - another one of the first i heard, the first one i learned to play on guitar and again just a good song (but then aren't they all?)
and i guess roadhouse blues deserves a mention
really for me, the s/t album and waiting for the sun are pretty near to perfection from start to finish and the other albums pretty damned good
la women, roadhouse blues, unknown soldier and love street, absolutely love 'em and of course all the more comercial stuff but those tunes do it for me, rock 'n roll.

Indian Summer- beautiful- and for Princess Smiling Face!
Wandering, wandering in hopeless night....
God in heaven, God above, be a God of truth and love
LA Woman has always been my favourite, but I think I've overdone it now as I dont need to hear it when playing The Doors.
I've always like Ghost Song. Very much like poetry, but funkehhh!
"I never give spoiler warnings!"
Light My Fire. Also, Riders on the Storm and Strange Days. Oh, and Five to One! Um, I think that's it.
