Joanna Cassidy stole this movie

I liked this movie a lot and I like Swell, Kenny and the other characters, but Joanna Cassidy's delightful performance as the slightly aloof boss is the one that I remember the most. She did great in this film and is a very underrated character actress who Hollywood was too stupid to put in many lead roles.

I agree. She's always memorable and distinct.

& Meryl Streep is getting rave reviews for her performance in DEVAIL WEARS PRADA, when she really copied Joanna Cassidy's much better performance in this movie.

Then again Cassidy is the better actress too.

Joanna Cassidy has my favorite laugh. She's one of those actresses like Madeline Kahn that steal the scene in every scene they're in.

Funny thing: I watched "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" last night onDemand, and I thought,...hmm that Dolores sure looks like the boss from "Don't Tell Mom...".

I'm so good at matching faces

Meryl Streep did not COPY Joanna Cassidy at all, which movie were you watching? Streep plays a boss from hell, Cassidy plays a boss everyone WISHES they had. I don't see the similarities. And btw, Streep deserved her praise for Prada, its a brilliant piece of acting - and she just won her third Oscar for The Iron Lady, so you can go to H-E-Double Hockey sticks!

I know, I loved how sweet she was to Sue Ellen even after she learned she deceived her. And yes, she does have an awesome laugh!

see, that's why the remake is gonna suck because it won't have Joanna Cassidy. won't have John Getz.

I agree - she's great, warm and friendly but intelligent and determined. She trusts in the integrity of her friend and doesn't get nasty like successful women are often shown to be.

She's extremely beautiful as well, not just when she was younger. Good old cucumber!

SHE'S good --- and get's better the less clothing she wears

She's quite good in this. A lot of the supporting cast does a good job. Cassidy, John Getz, Jayne Brook, even the babysitter even if she only is onscreen for about five minutes.
