What happened to the pies?

After he's given the 9 pies, Daniel and Julia take a seat, where they have their penultimate encounter. Daniel is seen setting the boxes down on the side of the pillar. When he and Julia part ways, he's shown walking off, no pies. On the tram - no pies.

Shall we presume the pies were left there? Did they remain there throughout all eternity? 
