I gotta agree with you on that. I recently saw the movie for the first time and expected at least an average movie, but I was dissapointed. What I did get out of it was seeing a young and beautiful Jennifer Connelly.
Stacked. Jen has an awesome chest in this. Horseriding & rollerskating scenes a highlight.

Um, they were fake (like, "stuffed-bra" fake, not "implant" fake). She needed them for the character. The director and John Hughes liked her face, but she's flat-chested...watch the HULK movie (if you can).

Before the weight fluctuation, her breasts were amazing and most definitely bountiful. Watch "the Hot Spot" and "Inventing the Abbots" and bow down! :)

I just watched this movie again yesterday and the horse-riding scene is the best in the whole movie!! I believe she had a reduction, if you see some of her early movies you will notice she does have a huge rack, she even poses nude in a couple of her early movies.
shareFake? Oh Hell no. Those babies are real. You gotta understand, a woman's weight can fluctuate. In CO, she was younger, with a bra full of hormones. This was long before the "Hollywood-Stick-Thin" body was in. She jumped on that bandwagon after the new millenium...and after Mullholland Falls...(She had a bra full of something in that flick too....but who knows if it was purchased or not...I tried to freeze frame it, and blow it up, and study it. But I was done studying after about 2 minutes and never figured out the answer.)
sharei hope whoever said that she had fake breasts back then was not a woman because if so, she should know better. think about it...i've experienced it myself...she had meat on her bones back then. therefore the great breasts. she is way too thin now, and when you lose weight, okay here comes a shocker...your breast size can go down too! whoa! imagine that! i remember a time period where i was losing weight and my boyfriend started to notice because he asked me to stop losing...he said he missed my old breasts! men.
anyway, she is a very beautiful woman now and then, but i will always think she looked better then. and not because she is younger (people are so ridiculously youth obsessed), but because she had a womanly figure. she had curves, i'm sad to see her get so thin. damn hollywood. regardless, she had and still has a face like no other. bushy eyebrows and all.

And yeah I agree she was better looking when she was younger, just because she was more filled out and natural. I feel the same way about Angelina Jolie...she's just not that hot anymore now that she looks like a skeleton.

Angelina was more full back in the day too. She looked really good all the way up to a bit after she did Mr. & Mrs. Smith and Taking Lives. But you could see her starting to lose weight during that period, I'm assuming because stress from raising her children at the time. Jennifer started to lose weight around the time of A Beautiful Mind. Plus, I think she's had a nose job unfortunately... damn Hollywood indeed. And yes, THE GIRLS ARE REAL, just got smaller due to her weight loss.... sigh...

I really don't care to participate in any discussion of weight, but I must say, for me, this one single role of Jennifer's was the beautiful I've found any actress in any movie to be.
I would still say Jolie is probably the single best looking (based on what MOST people to consider beautiful in the country) actress in my lifetime, but no single role of hers is better than Jennifer was for me in Career Opportunities.
I don't "fall in love" with people in movies (sometimes I might develop a crush on the character), but when I saw this film, I really wanted to walk out of the theater and find Jennifer Connelly or anyone out there who could look just like her.
If, at that time, I had been some famous, hot actor, I would have found her and given it my all to have some relationship with her. That's how significant of an impression her looks made on me in that film. That I liked her character was only a bonus...looks alone usually aren't enough, but they were in Career Opportunities.
She was similarly beautiful in Dark City and The Rocketeer, but it was never exactly the same as Career Opportunities. No one has ever made that strong of an impression since.
I remember seeing Jolie in Hackers and thinking that she had a face that was beautiful in a unique way, definitely different than Jennifer or Charlize's beauty and it certainly had a strong impact on me. That was a character that I had a serious crush on.
And I've admitted I think Jolie is the best of the best all time in Hollywood during my lifetime and she looks better than Jennifer does now in my opinion. But I'm watching Career Opportunities right now in HD and it brought me back to the first time I saw this film and nothing has changed. She really is the ideal woman physically at least in that movie in my opinion.
How this movie is at 5.5 on imdb is beyond my ability to grasp. It's a great and charming "little" film.
Oh, and I just thought of one last comparison. Phoebe Cates in Fast Times was WAY up there, but even her looks would probably be forgotten more today if not for the iconic pool scene. I'd compare the looks of Connelly in CO and Cates in FT, but Connelly, again, was just my idea of the perfect looking girl and I don't think that will ever change.
The big difference is that Fast Times is actually a very good movie that touches on very important and timeless issues for teenagers leaving high school and finding their own way in life, while Career Opportunities is a rather bad movie that snails along in a very hipster, lonely man's coming of age story.

The thread is about Jennifer Connelly's looks and a comparison between your opinion of one film and another is extremely irrelevant. Phoebe's looks came out, not the quality of her film.
Going along with your pointless comment, Phoebe Cates had an extremely small role in Fast Times and her participation was unnecessary outside of her looks.
Not certain why you're becoming personal about this, the very clear point was that the quality and iconic cult status of one film makes the female lead more memorable.

I second this. Jennifer Connelly was the most mesmerizing thing to ever walk, talk, rollerskate or ride a mechanical horse. The first time I saw her was Labryinth but wow she really blossomed by the time of Career Opportunies. I was pretty young but she really made an impression. What a beauty and always been a good actress.

A little too much? Na. It would be excessive if I had my whole room plastered with pictures, clips and wallpapers of Jennifer... and I certainly don't!
And the anger, sadness and tears come from knowing I'll never have such woman. I'd sell my soul to be with young Jennifer. Oh lord...

Jennifer in this movie is perfection when it comes to being a woman. She single handy saved this movie from being utter crap, I just watch it for her.
It's a shame and kind of sad to see how much she' changed since this. This movie put her on the map to be a sex symbol but she changed her direction and style to avoid it, that was a big mistake for her to do. I still think she would have won an oscar if she stayed on that track because she is just good. She is a little too skinny though, she looked better with curves. She needs to gain weight, she looks unhealthy in my book.
She was staggering beautiful at this point in her life.

She had a breast reduction which is why she is flatter now(and added to having kids and breast feeding), the excessive weight loss I can't figure out how she could go to Marilyn Monroe to Audrey Hepburn, completely changing body types, but the breast reduction I can understand, she wanted to be taken more seriously as an actress and her breasts were getting her typecast.

Good points, she wanted to be taken seriously as an actress because she was/is one of the greats. I thought she deserved her Oscar for "House of Sand and Fog" rather than "A Beautiful Mind".
I also think she had a bit of baby fat into her early 20. She seemed to gradually drop this. As far as the breast reduction, is this a known fact? It wouldn't surprise me, but I never knew if it was fact or rumor. She was still very large in "House of Sand....". It seemed that child birth and hardcore dieting explain her smaller bust as well. I think she is an extremely driven person.

I think the breast reduction thing is just a rumor. I really doubt she got a breast reduction, partly because her breast size gradually went down over the years after the early 2000s. Like you've brought up it's mainly through extreme weight loss fluctuations and having kids + breastfeeding too, since she's a mother of three now.
