Desert question (minor spoiler)
I saw the director's cut last night in Vancouver but my attention kept drifting and I missed something; when Claire and Trevor are walking through the desert why are they carrying the airplane door with them?
shareI just saw the director's cut tonight (Saturday 12th), and thanks to the Pacific Cinémathèque for bringing it. (I had seen the abridged version long ago, and it certainly left a lot out.)
Claire was handcuffed to the plane door by someone (I think the Australian aboriginal bounty hunter); we see Chico trying to cut it off, but I guess that he was interrupted or otherwise unsuccessful; during one of the evenings after the plane crash, in one of the abandoned settlements, after one or more days of Claire's lugging the plane door around, we see Sam get around to breaking the handcuff link, and throwing the plane door onto a pile of other junk behind him. As I recall, it's a bit later in the journey, after Claire joins the outback colony, that someone actually removes the handcuff from Claire.
