This isn't a standard goofy kids comedy. It's actually pretty offbeat and even dark at times.

Wasn't too unique when compared to the time it was made. Monster Squad, Goonies, Problem Child, all had elements that they wouldn't dare put in children's movies nowadays.

i rememebr it was supposed to be a huge hit but i'm not sure if it was.
