Release ' Brooklyn Bridge' on DVD!!!!!!

Not one of the longest running shows by any means, but definitely one of the BEST!

It's high time this oh-too-short-lived gem was released on DVD!

reply

Great, great show. I was fortunate to catch it again on the Bravo network several years ago, but I would very much like to see this on DVD as well. IMHO, it's much better than The Wonder Years, which is also a good show. I just found the characters on Brooklyn Bridge more interesting and the writing remained fresh in its second season, while Wonder Years took a precipitous dive after the first season.

reply

Considering what has been released on video recently - "Doogie Howser" - we need "Brooklyn Bridge" on DVD. Come on UBU, please?

reply

More power to ya--this series was one of the greatest of the 90s. The problem is, it was too smart for the average viewer! After all, look at the popularity of reality tv and vulger shows! Brooklyn Bridge was just so decent and well-written, it seems TV has no place for this! Plus, the series got bounced around so much by CBS, it's no wonder it failed. I would LOVE to get my hands on the episodes! But, as long as "classic" TV means "old and BAD" (hence the recent popularity of the original Brady Bunch, Gilligan's Island and other numbing rot), I doubt if it will come out on DVD or video.

reply

i totally agree with this persons assessment of the TV situation and the crap that is on. Brooklyn Bridge was to smart. i knew after the first time i saw it that it wouldn't last. same with Sports Night, but at least that is out on DVD. And it's time Brookyn Bridge is given to us too.

reply

Add me in with everyone else who has already posted. I also knew from the beginning that this show was too good to last; it seems like every show that I really like is doomed. Come on, whoever is in charge of releasing shows to DVD; there is money to be made!

reply

GREAT show...one of the best shows EVER on TV. I totally agree with the other comments...BRING BROOKLYN BRIDGE to DVD!!!!

reply

I am ecstatic! I typed in Brooklyn Bridge on Amazon.com, which I do periodically, and was told that Season One has not yet been released but would I like to be placed on the mailing list so that I might be notified when it is. And this is not the complete series DVD set I've seen on other websites whose quality is highly questionable. This appears to be the real thing. It may be on its way!

reply

Thanks for the tip! Maybe it (finally!) is getting closer to a DVD release!

reply

I couldn't agree more. This is my most favorite television show. Since it only ran about two seasons it would be very easy to put the entire series in one boxed set. PLEASE RELEASE THIS SHOW ON DVD!!!!!

reply

Does anybody know why it is not available. I would buy it on videocassette or DVD or anything. But as much as I've tried to find it, I have been turned back each time. I know the name Gary David Goldberg was involved in the show behind the scenes and I know it must exist. Can anybody help?

reply

Please do not quote me on this. But I have heard that Brooklyn Bridge has not yet been released on DVD because the sound track contains original recordings from the era of the show and it is difficult to secure the rights to this music for inclusion on a DVD.

I have to agree with everyone here. Brooklyn Bridge is one of my favorite TV shows of all time, and would love to see it released on DVD (even if it had absolutely no extras, although some extras would be nice).

They release shows like Survivor and Alf on DVD, why not Brooklyn Bridge?

reply

I am in total agreement with everyone of these postings - Brooklyn Bridge was the best-ever TV Series - you guys are right when you say that it was too intelligent for the average viewer - it's sad to think that the majority of TV viewers in the USA prefer the Survivor KRAP over quality like Brooklyn Bridge. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE RELEASE BROOKLYN BRIDGE ON DVD OR VHS...Thank you for the opportunity to express my view...

I also would like desperately to see "Brooklyn Bridge" on DVD. I urge you all to do as I have done and communicate your wish to TV Shows on DVD at the following address:

http://tvshowsondvd.com/

I find it hard to believe that one can easily purchase a copy of "The Star Wars Holiday Special" from 1978, while "Brooklyn Bridge" is totally unavailable.

reply

I loved Brooklyn Bridge, and I'm sooooooooooooo
glad to see that so many other people would like to see it on DVD!

We taped several when they were rebroadcast on Bravo some years ago. And we break them out once every so often and watch them as wine connoisseurs would pop open a bottle of their finest. Is anyone -- ANYONE -- out there listening? There are so many out of the way, rare shows on DVD. We anxiously await the day "Brooklyn Bridge" is one of them!

reply

I ended up here today after a google search for the DVD ... and do you guys mean there is NONE ? I am broken hearted ! This is one of the best series ever. Ever. I have 5 shows on an old videotape and we are watching it .. yet one more time..as a family for Mothers' Day. There was never a show like this. My husband grew up not in NYC, but in nearby Connecticut and watching it always brings back stories to tell our kids. I would love to have an DVD of this .. as my tape is wearing out !

reply

It's probably the music rights that are holding up this series from being released. There was plenty of music in Brooklyn Bridge and I imagine it'd be very expensive to secure those rights for the DVD. Wonder Years has a much bigger fan base and it's still not released on DVD for the same reason. I'm sure the series will end up on a cable channel again, eventually.

reply

The music rights are exactly what's holding it up.

I agree 100%. There was absolutely NO waste of pertanance in the fantastic portrayal of life in New York City, in the 1950'S. My parents came to this Country in 1959 and ended up in New York City in 1962. I was born in Manhattan in 1963. We moved just a year and a half later, but that little time that they spent there made such an impact that until my Father's Death in 2001 and to My Mother still today, life in the BIG APPLE was..........THE BEST! Even though they (we, me too, I was a baby) didn't have much, and also that I REALLY don't remember living there, I ALWAYS (even though it was just luck) take personal pride when getting to know people, I tell them....I......was born in NEW YORK!

My Mom also taped the episodes off the Television and just recently, found them and, we watched them, all afternoon. Amazing writing, wonderful/magical theme's, character's that are so vivid and real. I hope the writer's of these scripts see this one day, and realize that, this is a period Television show that is.....TIMELESS! And, Art Garfunkel......COME ON! PERFECTION! It's a shame and say's something about our society and it's heart and soul, when progam's like this, are just burried!

Now, some pretty good news. http://depotdvd.com/movies/action/brooklyn_bridge.html?gclid=CNS0xoT97IUCFS4ZIgodNTDChg {This is a Site where the Entire collection is on 5-DVD's. I haven't purchased them yet, but it's list price is $99.99+ (assuming that there will be shipping and handling charges). Here's to You and Your Husband, may those memories of youth always stay in your heart and soul.

Like other posters before me, I came looking on imdb to see if Brooklyn Bridge was on DVD. What a shame it's not.

When I was at The Museum of Television & Radio in Manhattan (it's also in LA), I was able to watch old episodes there. Too bad I don't have any recorded!

Please bring this to DVD somebody!!!

reply

It is on DVD now! Go to http://www.tvdvdplanet.com/movie/action/Brooklyn_Bridge.html?gclid=CNuHqsXH34cCFQiEQgodZFGGtQ

They are selling the complete set for ninety nine dollars.

reply

I think that might be bootleg.

reply

I just found the DVD on tvdvdplanet.com, and wondered if it was a bootleg. Has anyone purchased that set, and if so, could you provide information as to quality of the recordings?

reply

I tried going to that site, but I don't think it's up anymore. However, my sister literally just sent me a link to this site http://www.dvddiesel.com/movie/action/Brooklyn_Bridge.html which is also selling it for $99. Thankfully, my dad taped almost every episode (he was born in 1953 and grew up in Brooklyn) and my sister and I still watch it all the time, even though I was 4 and she was 8 when it started. It would be nice if it showed up on amazon.com, or somewhere like that and for less money.

reply

Yes it might be music rights that are delaying it.
But we still need to be vocal and let the powers-that-be know that our money is waiting to gladly hand over for this. One of the best-ever shows for tv, it is almost criminal that so much crap is out there now yet classics like this are not. Boo-hoo.

For what it's worth, I hated Happy Days, but when I saw this show I fell in love with Marion Ross.

reply

Try sell.com

reply

Yeah all the ones that have been listed for sale ARE bootlegs.

You should look on file share sites. I'm sure you'll come across it eventually. I am a big fan of 'Ed' which also has never been released and eventually found it.

reply

The 5 DVD set I have is fan made. Not the best picture quality but highly watchable.

What would be great with an official release would be the kind of "extras" we would get.

Cast interviews, behind the scene footage, maybe episode commentaries?

That would be pretty sweet.
