Val standing at the edge for so long

After Val throws the bomb at the end, Rhonda and Earl wisely jump out of the way. But Val stands at the edge of the cliff to the bitter end.

but why? It was already proven that the bomb would force the monster to burrow with speed. He risked being knocked off the cliff by the force. His standing there served no purpose.

For dramatic effect.

It is a movie, after all.

Exactly

reply

yea, i did kind of feeling the same,... wondering the purpose of he standing there for so long...

But i figure out later that, he didn't move because he want to make sure there is still a bait in front of the monster. He hope the monster go straight to him!
If everyone just running away sideway, there might be a chance that attract the monster to chase sideway as well... At that moment he was the only one has the "plan" in mind . Just my 2 cents

your 2 cents is right

THIS SCENE HAS SOME EXTRA WEIGHT TO IT NOW KNOWING HOW BURT GUMMER SOMEWHAT REENACTS IT IN THE LAST FILM.
