It is obviously disliked because it isn't as good as the ahead of it's time brilliance of Robo 1 but it's a better movie than many give it credit for. It's rating on here is way too low. It retained the original's amusing satiricism and cartoonish violence plus the cynical business ethics of OCP.
Also no love for that opening scene where we see multiple crimes committed rising in severity until Robocop intervenes?
I just rewatched it again tonight for the first time in many years and enjoyed it again. Cain is a fine villain as is the kid Hob but the real villain (The Old Man) gets away with it which is fine.
My only gripe is the issues with the Frank Miller original script as I wonder how good this could've been had they stuck with both that draft and the original director.
