Why do many people don't like this movie?

Well, I know the movie is very violent and has macabre scenes but I don't understand why the movie is so underrated and many people say is one of the worst movies ever made. I know it is not as good as the first movie but I think this is a good movie with good actors and a good sqcuence.

It is obviously disliked because it isn't as good as the ahead of it's time brilliance of Robo 1 but it's a better movie than many give it credit for. It's rating on here is way too low. It retained the original's amusing satiricism and cartoonish violence plus the cynical business ethics of OCP.

Also no love for that opening scene where we see multiple crimes committed rising in severity until Robocop intervenes?

I just rewatched it again tonight for the first time in many years and enjoyed it again. Cain is a fine villain as is the kid Hob but the real villain (The Old Man) gets away with it which is fine.

My only gripe is the issues with the Frank Miller original script as I wonder how good this could've been had they stuck with both that draft and the original director.

It's typical fanboy overreaction. If a sequel is in any way inferior to the original than it's immediately hung draw and quartered and labelled as "garbage".

The truth is Robocop 2 is a quality piece of comic book entertainment and while it doesn't have the deep and subtle layers of the first film it's perfectly enjoyable with a good cast, great bad guy and loads of Robo action.

I remember someone on this board called this movie once "... and Robocop too"

Robocop 2 = Robocop too. It's an action science fiction movie with a cameo appearance from Robocop 😃

But to be honest, that Robocain thing used to scare the crap out of me. Brrrr... and when his face appears on that monitor. Some scary $hit.

I'm just on my way up to Clavius.
