How was Ford's buzz cut supposed make him look "wimpy"?

So yeah, apparently the reason why Ford has a buzz cut in this film is because they wanted him to look "wimpy" so that audiences wouldn't view his performance here as being in the same category as Han Solo and Indy. I get where they were coming from on this, but his buzz cut in this film honestly doesn't make him look any less "macho" when compared to his other films from this era.
It just doesn't make much sense lol.

Just to differentiate this character from his more famous Han Solo and Indiana Jones roles, I think. I also though this might be a call back to his similar buzz cut look in Bladerunner. He was a much less likeable character in that film as well. It makes him less of a dashing, leading man type, not necessarily less manly just less Hollywood glamourous.
