Thomas Newman's Score

This has one of Thomas Newman's most beautiful, nuanced scores. The main theme is absolutely gorgeous and heartbreaking. Sadly, there is no soundtrack available.

I really love this score. It is very evocative of mood in the film, as a good score should be. I can even remember it just by thinking of a scene in the film. I wish it were available on CD.

You should listen to Andreas Wollenweider. Newman's score for this movie is...well I don't want to say it's a ripoff of Wollenweider's style, but.....

I'm a longtime fan of both Thomas Newman and Andreas Vollenweider and I don't hear that at all.

Agreed... Newman is definitely Newman.

I agree-- this is one of my favorite scores of all time.

FYI-- there is a high-quality "unofficial" score to Men Don't Leave. I can't tell you how to find it, but it is out there, and I've heard it. It sounds great. When I heard it, I heard a lot of the nuances in the score that even the DVD version doesn't expose.

Look around for it-- it's out there...

The music is very memorable. It oftentimes pops in my head and takes awhile to leave. It kinda makes me dreamy.

First a warning, musical; then the hour, irrevocable

Right on!! Some company should definitly release both Men Don't Leave and Phenomenon... Come on now... How about that La La land company??:-) Bring it on!!

Two great Newman scores, unreleased, in a time, where every Thomas Newman score got a cd release!! What the hell...?!?:-)

Yes.

The score is unforgettable. I watched Men Don't Leave many times as a child and the music spoke to my ears. It was the first time I understood how music could create a powerful effect when aligned with imagery.

Thomas Newman doesn't do much for me. His stuff is pretty treacly and overly sentimental. Little subtlety.
