Is This One Of The WORST Segal Movies Ever?

My Parents are from Jamaica, so what occurred there was just so stupid!
At first I felt the movie was o.k.,up until the ambush screwface set up at night, when the trucks crushed the roof & frame of the car segal was in. At this point Segal was a crispy critter. O.K., let's suspend disbelief, and he escapes. next he and his buddies hide a stash of weapons in camera equipment and transport it into Jamaica, anyone who has been to jamaica knows that post 9/11 U.S. airports have NOTHING on Jamaica's airports. They TEAR everything apart when it comes off the plane. Secondly, there is NO WAY that Segal is just going to waltz into "country" unseen, and hang out in a local bar and NOT stick out like a sore thumb, forget some "jilted" woman helping him out with inside info on Screwface without word getting back to him or retribution. se habla ambush #2?
Segal's trio going on a trek through the countyside unnoticed? That's like breaking into someone's home and having home field advantage. Oh, wait that's the next scene. There's so much more, like the swordfight (cutting a track into the ground, because ther is no way that sword was going to swing around and cut Screwface in the crotch), and the fight afterwards back in the U.S. (like nobody knew he was coming? where's ambush #3?) This movie is just disappointing on so many levels it was fustrating, considering I liked Under Siege & his first movie.

I believe this is one of Steven Segal's best movies because in the UK the film was sampled to death on Jungle/Drum & Bass tracks like "Screw Face" & "Johnny" which defintely proves how popular this film is as these tracks came four to five years after it's release!

As for Jamaican Airport officals not searching the bags properly in "Marked For Death" it wouldn't be much of a movie if the officals busted Segal at the airport with all those guns would it now?

All in all it's an entertaining action movie which is a whole lot better than "Exit Wounds" and that in my opinion is Steven Segal's worst movie ever.

You are thinking like an idiot. This movie was made EXTREMELY pre-9/11, in 1990, in fact. So your airport scenario doesn't apply.
Besides, see other comments re popcorn movies to answer your other points.

One of the best, if not the best Segal Movie!!!
what are you smoking to dis this movie.

By the way, not only pre-911 but They had their Jamaican cop friend that was working with the DEA, I always assumed that was why the guns, etc were so easy for them to move. I'm sure they took Air Jamiaca (VIP style).

reply

Yeah, I was surprised no one else picked up on that.

Anyway, this is Ten times better than all but one of the movies Seagal has made in the last ten years.

All his best films were Late 80's and 90's

Nico (Above the Law)
Hard to Kill
Marked For Death
Out For Justice
Under Siege 1 + 2
On Deadly Ground
Fire Down Below
Executive Decision (He's only in it for 5 seconds, lol)
The Glimmer Man
The Patriot

There are some from the 00's that I like too
Exit Wounds
Belly of the Beast
Half Past Dead

That's about it

I haven't seen any of his movies after Fire Down Below. Marked for Death is totally average, not all that good, etc, but it's extremely violent, and probably the most badass villain, of all the Seagal movies I've seen.

reply

No way dude. This movie showcases some of his best Aikido on screen, and one of the best car chases I've seen (the Dodge Ram Charger vs. BMW).

You have to admit that the car chase and the Jewelry store scene is some of the best action on film. It's an 80s action film.

Come on now, Segal really ran out of plot after Above The Law and Under Siege. Did you know that he co-wrote a song with Jimmy Cliff for the soundtrack, and that the soundtrack is available on iTunes?

while i agree with you that this is def. not one of his stronger movies , it's by far not the worst,, rent Shadow Man,, it's absolutely h orrible.

are you going to bark all day little doggie,, or are you going to bite

reply

The movie was made LONG before 9/11 smart guy so you can throw your stupid airport security line right out the window. Besides, you cant analyze these movies like that, they're popcorn action flicks.

reply

This was a great title for the period when it was released but we'd all probably cringe if it was made today.

reply

It's a shame movies that were made in the 90's would no longer appeal in the 00's. It's the same with 70's and 80's films. I suppose some films adopt cirtain styles but not full on and serious. It is a shame.

He compared to the post-9/11 US security, "smart guy".

reply

It's a 10/10 movie.

Exactly, which was idiotic of the OP, seeing as this film was made in 1990. Post 9/11 security is utterly irrelevant.
