Sam woul have gone to hell too

I mean come on, this movie is from a Christian viewpoint and

1.Sam was cohabitating with Molly
2.Sam didnt believe in the afterlife or God

Fornication and unbelief are two serious mortal sins.

This film would have us believe that murderers are the only people worthy of damnation.

i thought you was going to say he was responsible for two deaths. He should have goner to hell for that. Would have been one hell of a twist at the end.

"sir, sir, i gotta check and see if you've soiled yourself, I'll get to you in a moment, sir!"

reply

You know, I started off thinking that way too but in our religion we believe that if someone gets murdered all their sins are washed off. So thats probably why he went to heaven. Plus I really don't like believing that non-belivers or fornicators should go to hell, if they've been good people their whole lives then they should definitely get a little reward for that!

I used to believe in a Hell. And I did for decades. But I gave it up about 5 years ago through different circumstances. I no longer feel the power of condemning someone to eternal damnation. That's not my brand of Christianity any longer. If I am to choose any type of religious influence it will a spiritual one.

I no longer believe in a Hell. I believe that the blood of Christ washes away all sin, even those who don't beg God to forgive them. His gift is for all mankind, not just for the very few.

His love is complete. Even for Sam. Even for Carl and Willy. Carl and Willy need the love of God even more than the usual folk. They act lost. Modern Christians are always trying to save the lost. The truth is they are already found. They just don't know it.

So... Hitler, Saddam Hussein, Osama Bin Laden... they're all in Heaven??

According to what I believe there is nothing that we do that can make us be worthy of God's love and full acceptance and there is nothing that we can do to cause his rejection of us. He knows us and accepts us just as we are.

reply

I seriously doubt that hun and you can't honestly believe it too, there has to be a hell as well as a heaven otherwise what the hell is the point in doing good. If theres no hell then every evil person just gets away with it all the immense pain and suffering they have caused to so many people?!
C'mon, you can't honestly believe that!

I believe in a universal law. That we get back what we give out. "We reap what we sow". If we sow seeds of righteousness in our world then we will reap the fruits of righteousness. The same with evil. Like Karma?

I really do believe that the sacrifice on the cross was enough for even the seeming wicked on the Earth. Even Jesus said that he didn't come to save the good but he came to save the unrighteous.

I don't think He sees us as being righteous or unrighteous. He sees us as his children. We lose our focus and forget who we are and whose we are.

The subject of hell: I've changed so much. The thought that I always have is, how much of hell do people deserve?

If they're there for 10 years, in a burning lake of fire, where every square inch of you is burning without stop, with no lessening.

Is 100 years enough, a thousand years, a million years, a billion years?

Will there come a time when we have spend so much time in a burning flame that we have forgotten that we were ever human?

I think that after the first 5 minutes that would happen.

The question is, is God really that angry? He created us to enjoy us, to live with Him forever. To die, to step over, is to be with Him, the fulfillment of His divine plan.

There is no doubt in my mind about this. His love is too great.

What was Hitler's karma though? He made thousands of people struggle and suffer in the most inhumane way, tortured them slowly, left a permanent scar on the world and what happened to him? As soon as he found out he had lost he simply killed himself quickly, where was his suffering and torment?

This is why we NEED there to be a hell, otherwise it is just unbelievably unfair that so many people can get away with causing so much hurt scot-free!
Its too unfair it doesn't even make sense for there not to be a hell.

Anyways I just realised that I am doing the one thing I've always said I hated when other people do - trying to get you to adhere to my way of thinking. Ok if you don't believe in hell then... thats what you believe. Who am I to tell you otherwise, its not like I can prove it. We'll just agree to disagree.

I love conversation and that's what we're having.

I know that hell kinda makes sense. And I love to hear your assertions regarding it.

And I held those exact views until about 5 years ago. I was convinced of it. And no one or no thing to convince me otherwise.

And the passion for my argument, the fodder for the fuel was the behavior of most of the human race. I was one of those folk that believed that most of the human race was racing to a hell. You know, "Many are called but few are chosen".

I'm open to the idea though that the Bible which I love beyond words (I read it 17 times and studied it for over 32 years) might have been played with by men for selfish gain.

I used to preach and teach the word of God. I'm still a follower of Christ and someone who loves God and his children. But I no longer use the behavior of folk to gauge my behavior of them.

DO you know, dropping my need, my right to judge the righteousness of others has opened my heart and my mind to who and what the values of others are.

I'm no longer in the box. Its so easy to determine (at least in our selves) who's going to heaven and who's going to hell.

I no longer seek that power. I see everyone as children of the Most High. Of He who lived a perfect life, so that we will not be judged if we don't. If we don't find the power to do that.

Not only are we not forgiven, but he doesn't have to forgive us. He sees us through the lens of a risen Christ. We are His children, the chiefest part of His creation.

I know that this is unlike anything you might have read before.

Believe me, it floored me too.

So let me get this straight, OP.

You're going to hell if you have sex before marriage, live with a partner you're not married to, and don't necessarily believe in God?

I'd say that means about 90% of the population are doomed to Hell, then...

Not so much for the not believing part, but the cohabiting before marriage part, cos everybody does that these days.

Sam didn't believe in the lord and Saviour Jesus H. Christ. So he should be burning in hell god dammit.

reply

Not Christian (except for obvious Heaven and Hell allusions, and demons).

I don't think the Bible says anything about human spirits getting to hang around and do some of those fun things the ghosts got to do.
