David Morse's character? I know he was a bad guy, but towards the end he just wanted to leave and get to Mexico. I dunno... just my thought. I kinda felt bad for him. At least he died in a beautiful area
Yeah I did kinda. Especially in the scene when he starts whistling. It was quite symbolic: It was as if he didn't know what to do in the situation and that whistling was his way of trying to reach out to his boss so he could be told what to do.
I knew exactly what you were talking about before I opened this, and yes I agree. The whole time I was watching it, I was thinking "why is David Morse the only one here who can act?" Rourke was just being (early) Rourke. Everyone else -- especially Hopkins sorry to say, blew chunks! Hopkins was the 2nd worst in this (after the FBI agent of doom).
Yeah, when Morse's character started whistling, I actually got sad. If the movie had done a 180 and just started developing his character I wouldnt have complained. In fact anything to have seen more of him on screen would have been fine with me.
The movie gets a base 2 for being watchable, + 1 for David Morse + 1 for the stunning scenery shots (4/10). I think the mountains were definitely snubbed for their Oscar that year.
I like David Morse as well, hes one of those actors who is usually memorable in a film even though hes never the main star.
I liked his character watching the kid play the wrestling video game, this shows he wasnt a nasty criminal at heart and shouldnt have been in this situation.
Thats why he over-reacted badly in certain situations and made things worse rather than better. You just knew he was going to die unfortunately.
