scenes edited out on the dvd version.

Hi, can anyone tell me why the dvd version of this wonderful mini-series has over 70 minutes edited out, I taped this when it was on Australian tv a few years ago, and I also came across it for sale on vhs, the running time was 300 minutes plus, yet running time on dvd is 230 minutes, the scenes deleted spoiled the whole series. My tapes are worn with use and age, so I bought the dvd, and was most disappointed, as some of the deleted scenes were central to really appreciating the story. I can't understand why they just don't put it on two discs.

By chance, did your VHS copy of the movie contain commercials?

Most disappointing to hear this Louiebee :(

I have 2 180H tapes and glad I haven’t erased them. Luckily I always kept my recorders in mint mechanical conditions, so those tapes are in perfect state.

Could you please offer a more precise estimation of erased scenes? Which parts are missing exactly?

The complete version (i gaher) is on the dutch r2 release!

Aha! So that could be why the IMDb states that Albert Salmi was in this mini-series, but he's nowhere to be found on my DVD copy. He was probably in a couple of the deleted scenes. What a shame! Other than that, I thought it was a most compelling story. Beautifully written and acted out. Wasn't that Bruno the slimiest bad guy you ever saw?

Yes, the US version has that problem too. I had watched partof the original miniseries on youtube and then was able to borrow the dvds from the library. But right away there were scenes missing, such as when Eve is still at home, before she follows her lover to Paris, and also some of the Paris scenes. I’m sure there are more scenes missing, too.
