One of the many reasons I love the character of Sybok

Realizing that he had been duped, Sybok cries out, “What have I done?!” He then turns to his brother in repentance: “Spock, this is my doing; this is my arrogance, my vanity.” Spock tries to respond: “Sybok, we must find a way…” But Sybok interrupts, “No, save yourself. Forgive me, brother… forgive me.” He then nobly sacrifices himself in order to give the triumvirate time to escape.

This is a powerful scene, well displaying the humility and goodwill of Sybok; his sacrifice is heart-rending.

Speaking of Sybok sacrificing himself, seeing him fight the ‘God’ being in the form of Sybok is (unfortunately) reminiscent of Lazarus fighting his mad alter ego in the ‘corridor’ in the dreadful “The Alternative Factor” from the 1st Season.
