I just love this move!!! It's so funny!!!

The movie is great! I don't know why so many people have bad critics about it!

It was great and funny in so many ways and so many moments. It starts off very fast with the interplay between klutzy Rose as a fan of Mary and Bob as a lying slimeball. I love the revenge theme, the way she makes a list and crosses off her targets one by one. Blowing up the house was hilarious. Seeing Mary's fancy world fall apart was hilarious, especially as she switched back and forth between silken-voiced romantic and screaming angry bitch. Mom's role contributed a lot as well. This is a chick movie, and villain Bob comes out badly, but both women find a new way of life and new success. Awesome. The interplay between Rose and Hooper shaking up the institution was also excellent.

I only watched this movie because I wanted to see a movie where Meryl got only one out of a possible four stars. I was pleasantly surprised when I started watching in on TCM, and stayed with it to conclusion - I've seen a lot worse get three stars.

i think this would have been a fun family comedy if they had just left out some of the nastiest parts, cause alot of it feels like that sort of movie, i think it was quite funny, i'm not used of seeing ed begley jr in a bad guy role, mostly used of hearing him in several great twilight zone radio dramas.

at halloween night an unidentified flying object,
beaming right above mine and madeleines head,
of spacemen and spacewomen so sweet,
a little fella stepped down and befriended me,
they had me playin right along,
the spacemen took out a guitar and started playing a song,
singin, my spacebrain surfin on the waves of her hair,
driving on the curves of madeleine,
a body that a suit can't confine,
as her feminine forms break out,
before i knew what was about,
the space people borrowed madeleine to a freakish planet out of sight.

Totally with you! I recall seeing this film at the movies with my sister and her friend when I was only like 11 years old. We were on holidays and session tickets were cheap so we decided to kill the time we had by watching a couple movies. It was my first ever movie marathon experience and boy was it fun! If memory serves, we watched Weekend at Bernies and then we went to see She-Devil. I loved it so much—it was hilarious! And that's not just because I was a fan of the TV show, Roseanne. The central theme to me of not judging a book by its cover and how Ruth puts into action a plan to wreak vengeance on her ungrateful, no-good of a husband, Bob and his mistress, Mary; with the help of her partner in crime, Hooper, played by the diminutive Linda Hunt—who always reminded me of my high school French teacher, Mrs. Glenn!—was so satisfying to me! This is for me one of the best popcorn flicks I admit I always feel a guilty pleasure in watching!
