Jingle All The Way (I know, it's horribly cheesy, but I love it!) Elf (When the taxi hits Buddy, it slays me every time!) Scrooged Christmas Story Fred Christmas Charlie Brown Christmas (technically not a film, but...) Arthur Christmas (Just started this year with this one.) Christmas Vacation (By far the best of them all!)
Die Hard Gremlins A Christmas Story Christmas Vacation A Christmas Carol (George C. Scott version) A Christmas Carol (Robert Zemeckis/Jim Carrey version) Santa Claus The Movie The Polar Express
The family friendly movies (for the most part); more or less in order of how much I like 'em:
It's A Wonderful Life Home Alone Christmas Vacation (edited for TV version if the kiddies are around) The Santa Clause A Christmas Story How The Grinch Stole Christmas The Muppet Christmas Carol Jingle All The Way
And if I'm hanging out with my buddies with no little kids around:
Die Hard Die Hard 2 Gremlins
Going through the other posts I can see there's still a lot of potentially good Christmas movies I need to check out. And I can see that the 2000s really failed at making new films to become part of the movie-watching tradition around the holidays! They don't make 'em like they used too!
Happy holidays!!! Here goes mine...going to be very thorough because that's just how I like my lists, lol.
Christmas Vacation (naturally) Jingle All the Way (This movie is AMAZING. I can't imagine how anyone could fail to love it! And SO VERY, VERY quotable!! "PUT THAT COOKIE DOWN----NOW!!!!" "That was really a bomb? This is a SICK world we're livin' in, with SICK people!" "You know what? Nobody likes you, Booster!") Elf The Santa Clause 1-3 The Ref It's a Wonderful Life The Muppet Christmas Carol White Christmas Holiday Inn (on a DVD with Going My Way and The Bells of Saint Mary's) Miracle on 34th Street A Charlie Brown Christmas (It technically is a film! A short animated one.) The Berenstain Bears' Christmas Tree Mickey's Christmas Carol An All Dogs Christmas Carol Doug's Christmas Casper's First Christmas Garfield's Christmas Nine Dog Christmas My two Disney Christmas Sing-Along Songs videos There Goes Santa Claus Winnie the Pooh and Christmas Too (Often the "Wishing Bear" video as well, because it's wintry and close enough to being Christmasy for me.) Christmas at the House of Mouse Franklin's Christmas Barney's "Waiting For Santa" XD (It's actually awesome. I wish I still had my William Wegman "Fay's 12 Days of Christmas" tape.) "The Best Christmas Ever" (The Busy World of Richard Scarry) Christmas Eve on Sesame Street The Christmas episodes of I Love Lucy, The Honeymooners, and various other great TV shows and cartoons "A Family Guy Merry Freakin' Christmas" Arthur's Perfect Christmas Hoops & Yoyo Ruin Christmas Hallmark cartoons--"Jingle All the Way" and "Jingle & Belle" Cranberry Christmas Olive the Other Reindeer
I usually put on The Sound of Music, too...and watch some of ABC Family's 25 Days of Christmas, which includes Eloise at Christmastime, The Grinch Grinches the Cat in the Hat, A Christmas Carol, Prep & Landing, Jack Frost, The Polar Express, Home Alone, Despicable Me, the Harry Potter and certain Pixar movies such as the "Toy Story"s and The Incredibles...not all Christmas movies, but most are still awesome and fun to watch any time of year. Plus, some of the latter at least have Christmas scenes. The original ABC and Hallmark Christmas movies are sometimes worth a watch.
Christmas Vacation - this is a classic. Christmas Story - its a fun comedy although not as festive as some people make it out to be Scrooged Miracle on 34th street - original It´s a wonderful life Home Alone ( I never actually look at it as a christmas film ) Gremlins ( same as Home Alone) Black Christmas - underrated classic.
- Christmas Vacation - Planes, Trains & Automobiles (I know its not technically a Christmas Movie but im not American so when I was younger I thought it was a Christmas Movie and I thought that way for so long it just stuck, and now I just think of it as a Christmas Movie) - Home Alone - Scrooged - Bad Santa - Die Hard - Gremlins
