I feel sorry for everyone who watched this movie...

... in english dub. It's terrible: voices don't fit the characters, jokes are corny as hell, Jiji is annoying and talk too much, even when it's better for him to shut the *beep* up. Songs are terrible too. Compare them to these:

All in all, english version shouldn't exist, because it makes people believe that this masterpiece isn't as good as it really is.

By the way, I just watched it in japanese with subtitles. I tried to watch it several days ago in english, but it was no use - I had to turn it off after about 10 minutes, when Jiji said "First, be careful. Second - be careful. And third - did I mention being careful" or something like that. It was such a bad joke, I couldn't keep on watching. When I got a normal subtitled version, I was happy to hear stunning and beautiful silent instead of a corny joke.

Definitely the worst dubbing in the istory of bad dubbing! TERRIBLE!

On the other hand, I think that an english version of Mononoke-Hime is very decent, but God, save us from this horrible abomination of mankind!

You realize all the flaws you listed with the dub were revised/removed in the 2010 re-release. Why the hell are you guys still complaining about an out of print version of a movie that has since been fixed? For the record the 2010 release is perfect, and a made a exttemely flawed english dub into an excellent one. Kudos to Disney for doing that

Completely agree! The new dub from 2010 is MUCH better than the original English dub. Gone are a lot of the Jiji "jokes" that were simply too much, and gone is his line in the final scene- replaced by the proper "meow" as in the Japanese version. Even the original Japanese music has been put back in. Jiji is a lot more bearable now compared to before, when (as the OP stated) he was just far too annoying instead of funny. And I'm so glad he just meows at the end again. Much better!

I whleheartedly disagree.

I found that the dub voices were great, and added perfectly to the sequences and script. I laughed, contemplated how the characters felt, felt sad and nostalgic and so on. Miyazaki did an excellent job with this, and I support the English dub version :)

I never felt the English dubbing of this movie was bad except for two things: Troy McClure cat and altering the score. Those two facts prevent me from watching that version anymore. I've heard the 2010 re-release tries to fix this to an extent, but sounds more like a band-aid to me. Still though, in the end, it's just a preference thing. I certainly don't "feel sorry" for those that like it as it's still good for the most part.

If everything is not all rainbows and kittens for you today, hopefully it will be tomorrow!

i'm feeling sorry for my self too, i bet the songs were much better too. but i think that the english dub for a grave for firefly was probably worse, thank god i was able to watch it the second time in the original voices.

Oh, be quiet! I've only ever watched his films in English and loved them.
