25th Anniversary

This movie opened in theaters on Friday, August 4, 1989, and will have its 25th anniversary this week. I happened to see it one day in early August, 1989, it was one of three movies I saw in two different theaters that day (along with When Harry Met Sally and Turner and Hooch). I liked it all right, but I thought that it was by far the most violent movie I had ever seen, and that remains the case to this day. I wasn't all that surprised by this, as I had seen a number of other Sylvester Stallone movies before this one and knew he had a reputation for real violence, but he definitely topped out with Lock Up.
