Do any gay guys aside from me enjoy this movie?

Just to clear this right away, I am NOT a troll, and this is a legitimate post!

That said...

I have my mother to thank, mainly, but this is my absolute favorite Disney movie! I don't really know many people who enjoy The Little Mermaid, other than me. I am looking for other gay guys that just ADORE the songs (Not just "Under The Sea"), as well as the movie. Pat Carroll is an instant reason to love this movie! Jodi Benson as well! I wish I could see more of Christopher Daniel Barnes in the 80's sitcom he starred in "Day By Day"...it seems to not exist at all anywhere on the Internet other than "The Brady Episode" and the opening TV theme on YouTube.

Forgive me if I strayed a bit...just so much greatness came from this movie, and there has to be some gays out there besides me that enjoy the movie!

I grew up with this movie, so I have a soft spot for it. But it's probably not my favorite. I like Disney animated movies in general, but lean more towards the princess ones, and the ones wit more serious topics (Brother Bear, Atlantis etc).

I'm a guy and im not a gay. And while i love war films and gangster films and horror films and what not, i do also like animted films. And this is easily the best animted
Disney.

I'm most definitely a straight male, yet I also am very fond of this movie because like Ariel, I also had to undergo various societal challenges as an autistic person to get to where I am today. Besides, I kinda liken it to Metroid or Tomb Raider, having a girl protagonist yet also having stuff that's pretty obviously geared towards guys (in this case, action sequences and guys who are downright badass, and even the princess being a badass as well.).

That being said... I really wish this topic was done differently. It's already bad enough that, thanks to the Disney Princess franchise absorbing The Little Mermaid, they had made it an implied societal taboo for any straight males like myself to like the princesses or their films, even though various mediums for the TLM franchise made clear that before then, it was geared to kids of both genders. The mere title of the topic implies that if any guys should like it, it's only gay guys and ignores any straight guys who actually like it.

Before the Disney Princess franchise came about, a straight guy like me COULD be allowed to like them. In fact, various promotional materials for TLM indicated it was for kids of both genders.

Unfortunately, when the Disney Princess franchise was created, an unwritten rule was established that only girls could like the DP franchise and anything in it, even if there was materials in there that straight men actually could enjoy like action sequences, which essentially forced straight guys like myself to back off. I guess it's getting a bit better after Tangled, but nonetheless...

My little brother wanted to watch this with mum and me, but the kids at school teased him about being a sissy. When we got it on vhs, he'd watch it alone with me and secretly love it. Now he's older he openly says how much he loved it and couldn't care what others think (and no he's not gay).
Are all the reviewers who gave it high marks gay?

I love this movie I grew up watching it as much as other classic animated Disney films and I am 23 years old.

I'm Male, Gay and absolutely love this movie, but I loved it long before I was aware of my sexuallity. it's second only to BATB and The Lion King in Disney Canon imo.
