The deal with fender and water.

Early in the movie, fender and his pirates interrupt a wedding and slaughter all those in attendance. He says something to the newly wedded (and soon to be dead) husband, "You expect us to swim all the way to Atlanta?! I can't swim, *beep* I hate the water!" Previous threads on this sight have theorized that Fender himself might be a cyborg. Could this be why he has an affliction to getting wet, for fear of shorting out? Remember that the final climactic battle with van damn takes place in the rain. Could this have aided gibson in his victory? After all, the first time they fought fender totally handed him his ass. Then again van damn was exhausted, but you'll notice that while his men trudged through the marsh to catch gibson and his female companion, fender himself never does. Once again, could this have been for fear of getting wet? Plus he looks really dirty, like he rarely bathes if at all. Just something to think about.

I think people over analyzed this aspect in the movie. Fender didn't have problem to getting wet. He just can't swim. He said it himself. It's good reason to hate water but it's doesn't mean he afraid to getting wet. Yes he looks dirty, but the same everybody else in the movie, mainly the men.

Yes, I also noticed one of the females in his group had atrocious oral hygiene issues. As the leader of his gang, Fender really should have tried to enforce proper cleanliness within his group.

Exactly. And it is so unnecessary. No one bother them. Most of the times they just abusing bystanders. Only few brave men and women challenges them. They have enough time to keeping oral hygiene issues, but they still dirty as pigs. It might lead to disease, certainly not helping them in their mission to destroy the world.

Moreover, there are many abandoned homes with shower and rivers around the country - so no water problem.

About the female in the group, I think I know who you talking about. Haley, compared to the others, very clean. The main female character in the group is the most cleanliness compared to the other female characters in Fender group who are much dirtier. Probably on purpose.

The girl I’m talking about had her hand cut off and when she screams you can see her disgusting choppers.

But yeah, Fender sucked as a group leader. Like you said, he wants to destroy the world and other stuff like that but all he does is yell all the time. I’m sure his gang was sick of having to listen to that day and night.

I give Fender more credit. Maybe this is what his men need in non-merciful post-apocalypse world: someone who is cruel and know how to provide his group. He and his small group quickly took over and became the strongest team in their area. We did not see any hints of rebellion from the members of the group. It's good sign for him.

I believe his biggest mistake as a leader is Haley. He should have seen she is more sensitive than the other guys in the group, for example, she is unable to see the sight of blood. Moreover, he must know about her history, am I wrong? from what I remember he the one that kill her brothers, so how he didn't supervise her better? how he didn't except her turn on him at some point?

Agree with you, he didn't give a lot of respect to his gang. We can assumed that they will rebel in the future if they find Fender in moment of weakness (He's so strong that the chance of this is small). One of my favorite scene is when he cleans the bloody knife on the shirt of one of the group members. I find it so funny 😂

The film is as deep as a puddle. It only exists to use He Man costumes and Spider Man sets up to recoup some money.
