I don't think your satanic movies were inspired by the satanic panic. Maybe it was the other way around, and they inspired it. It was the 80s when real world satanic cults were in the news constantly. Recovered memories were also getting a lot of attention. Many of the satanic cult stories involved recovered memories. There were several cases of people being falsely convicted of satanic ritual abused.
