Anyone know anything about its box office?

I think it made less than $100,000. Anyone know the real figures, budget and reaction?

Pass it on.

It has only just over 300 votes. My guess is that even $100.000 is stretching it a bit.

Released 6 years after filming, Brenda Starr made a 'Domestic Total Gross' of $67,878, its opening weekend at 48 theaters made $30,035. Only a $625 p/theater average which is quite AVERAGE, lol.

It was barely released anywhere which may account for its low gross. Brooke Shields herself said she didn't even SEE the movie till years later on an airplane flight.

The budget here is listed as $16 mil.

Box Office mojo has a total take of; $67,878 USD

I tried finding some reactions to it, but there isn't a whole lot there. Even Variety didn't review this film.

I see my review got mostly thumbs down. I stand by what I said, Shields could not act until later in her career, and was cast primarily because she looked the part. A very attractive college co-ed, to me, doesn't speak of a 30-something indy female who's out to get a scoop for her paper. The 70s and 80s saw a resurgence of casting for looks to get box office draw.

As per my review the opening sequence with "The Mad Mic" in a shootout with the local cops using Tommy guns was good comic book theatre, but it's like the minute they left the stage the whole movie changed, and for the worse.

I'm guessing because it was seen as a female film (which it was, and is) that they didn't expect much to come from it. Or rather they were hoping to release it on schedule, dupe the ticket buyers with Bookes as the lead, but wound up getting caught up in legal hoops.

Who knows ... too bad, because back then I was kind of curious how this film was going to turn out.
