Ridley's worst

is this it?
From the dialogue to the hairdos.
Douglas' and Garcia's acting.
Cinematography and music? Nothing special.

I'm sad you had to ask the question.
One of my favourite cop movies.

reply

I disagree

I'm watching this movie right now and loving it haha.. It is really corny and 80s but its also really nice to look at.. and I like Japan.

reply

Nope. Not even close to his worst. It has a good story, great acting, interesting setting & amazing cinematography. I always felt this was one of his best films.

reply

Cliche-ridden, awful dialogue, terrible performances by Garcia and Douglas... yep, this echoes all over the place. I must say that none of this bothered me, though. It's not an excellent film, but it has some merits.

Hey there, Johnny Boy, I hope you fry!

Rising Sun and Basic Instinct are better. Not like they are great either. Guilty pleasures, like the Nintn Gate.

reply

Wow, agree on the whole thing here. Rising Sun is indeed superior to this one and as for Basic Instinct, even if don't really see why you would mention it here (Douglas?), i also prefer it to Black Rain.

I'm really surprised to see another person mention the 9th Gate... It's one of my all time favorite! Most people didn't like it, which is why it has a rather low rating on here, but i love it 9/10-10/10 in my book!

People who don't like their beliefs being laughed at shouldn't have such funny beliefs

His movies after Gladiator are all worse IMO. They're "from hunger," like the woman in Sunset Blvd said.

reply

Well, "A Good Year" was ok as travelogue escapism.

*beep* off. Worst movie.. *beep*

reply

It's certainly his most unintentionally hilarious.

Zimmer's score is great, the cinematography is good and Douglas is passable in dealing with some truly awful dialogue. The film meanders to pretty underwhelming final showdown (the shift in location was somewhat jarring).

The rest is entertaining *beep*

And the scene with Charlie and Masa singing along to Ray Charles has got to rank as one of the most cringe-worthy scenes in the history of cinema.

Dipshit, Karaoke is inherently crap. Are you the guy at the cruise ship who complains that the food is terrible and there’s so little of it?
