Were the filmmakers aware of DOCTOR WHO?

I mean, a phone booth vs a police box, and they cram both with historical figures. The TARDIS could handle that lot easily, but the phone booth has trouble.

It just seems like plagiarism on the part of the filmmakers with no original bones in their bodies.

I didn't like the movie anyway when I finally saw it today, I can't believe the contamination caused by exposing the historical figures to the 20th Century like that, and misplacing Napoleon and then causing the others to be jailed while they brought him back from the water park was pure negligence.

I was alive in the 1980s, but was from the UK where Doctor Who was massive. I can't really tell you how much it was known in the US at the time.

Watching it over here, I remember noticing the similarity though.
