The DVD

The DVD is very different than the VHS version.

It's not completely butchered like Catchfire, but it's a good 14 minutes shorter than the Director's Cut VHS.

I just watched the VHS Director's Cut. Yeah, it was HORRIBLE--but what a cast!!! ;)

I watched this just for Jodie. I think she's great and incredibly sexy, and I'll make no secrets about enjoying her nude scenes and particularly the scene where she's putting on her stockings, smiling while berating Milo for his 'two-minutes on top of her.';)

So, on to the important question. What's cut out?

The corset scene with Jodie is considerably shorter in the DVD version.

Thanks, CodaSky--I'll probably just keep my old VHS in case I ever feel like I need to see it again. Though I'm not quite sure why I would. Oh, yeah---Jodie.

Good to see The Accused finally came out on DVD. Now there's a strong film--and a GREAT performance by Jodie.

I just found the VHS for $3. Poor copy and bad audio, but hot Jodie and nice gams. That was worth it just for her!!! The movie was bad, poorly edited and scripted. I saw the director's cut, but whoa, it seemed like that was butchered too. I expected some steamy sex scenes, but all I saw was a nude shot, sexy lingerie, and cuddling in bed. And this was the 115 min. version. Foster has the greatest legs I've even seen on film. I was in awe the whole time...of her, not the movie...and her stocking scene and Hopper kissing her thighs, wow wow wowie!! Daddy like. Too bad Foster wasted her time and talent on this piece of garbage. I just had to see this movie to see what all the un-hype was about. I read that Foster was very disappointed with this movie and how she was treated during filming. I wonder why she signed on to do it. I'll have to read up on why the production went so wrong.

Because this film - a true guilty pleasure - not only must have been as much fun to make as it was to watch, but what actress worth her salt could pass up the opportunity to speak one of the greatest lines in modern cinema:

Ann: Not only are you a murderer and a rapist, but you're a pompous *beep* a**hole!

Milo's reply is almost as good: I am NOT a rapist!

Great fun, great cast, my God, Joe Pesci with HAIR, Vincent Price in a wheelchair! And yes, folks, Jodie was HOT. Although there were comic moments, Dennis Hopper's performance as a man who had never loved before was very affecting. Gotta get the VHS director's cut.

I just got a copy of the Director's Cut, the 1992 Vestron title. Got it from one of Amazon's sellers. It is a used copy, formerly rental, but it is in good shape.

Now, a few questions. IMDB shows running time of the DC at 116 min., yet the jacket of my DC says "Approx. running time 102 min." Which is correct? Also, IMDB lists an "original cut" at a running time of 180 min. Anyone ever seen that one?

Next, IMDB says the format is 1.85. However, my DC is definitely 4:3; and, a copy I made from satellite many years ago of the short release is also in 4:3. What gives?

Finally, a comment on the DVD. I rented it from Netflix, so I'm not out big bucks, but it is definitely different from the DC tape. Scenes aren't even in the same order. Also, in order to make the DVD "widescreen", to simulate 1.85, they cut off the top and bottom of the image; definitely a lot more visual image in the 4:3 tape. I've seen the distributors do that before on other movies--very disconcerting.

OK, thanks for looking!
