Did your school have an after school hangout?

That seemed to be a recurring thing on these shows. And I was wondering if it really happened. There was a McDonald's down the street from my school but no one really hung out there, even though people used to go there to order food but then leave. The most hanging out people did was in the parking lot at that same McDonald's after the football games during the fall but eventually the police got all douchebaggy and started harassing people and telling them to go home.

kind of. our school was weird. it was a drive-only school: you could only get there via bus or car -- there was no walking allowed. there was a convenience store up the road a little bit - about the distance of the football field. and then across the road from that, there was a fairly large shopping center.

I was never able to hang out there.. 1: had no real friends. 2: did not drive to school. 3: friends I did have had not a lot of money. 4: too busy working when I was an upper classman.

We kind of did, it was either at Sconecutter or Hardee's, but most the time people would just go hang out at their friends house or a park. Sluffing with my girlfriend while my parents were at work during the day was my preferred thing to do during high school. Lol we had lots of fun

The closest thing we had to a hangout was the mall. After we started driving, we stopped that mall nonsense, and just went wherever seemed most appealing.

Ya In elementary there was an ice cream man who parked about 100 feet from the school
And most kids would buy stuff after school (chips soda ice cream etc)
Tho back then I think (in 99") the school principal would harass the ice cream man to move I think or stop selling ice cream there
I think it was illegal to sell anything (food) 300 feet from a school or church idk why. Politics and business I think
He later moved to about 140 feet (the school also sold ice cream everyday after school so obliviously he took business away from them) kids would also hang out at the school playing handball basketball etc also in this local park about half a mile
From the school also in this baskin Robbins about 350 meters from the school

In jr high : @ the school like before,at the same baskin Robbins listed before,
At another ice cream truck about 250 feet from the school,at jack in the box(about 400 meters)
Taco Bell (about 470 meters). At KFC (470) at sav-on (470) (now called CVS )
At this Mexican fast food restaurant (480) at a few other places to many to list

In high school : mostly same stuff listed in jr high and starbucks (1300 meters)
Albertsons(1400 meters) this pet store (1460) this clothing store (1460)
This pretty big park (600 ). A liquor store(80) a few Chinese/Vietnamese fast food places
After school at night like Denny's starbucks the mall the movies the beach etc

It was pretty cool it was a simpler time We weren't attached to our cell phones iPods etc
We ACTUALLY hanged out and talked the times were good people were alive
Gas was cheaper and food too and movie tickets as well(the movies were/are better)

We never said "Netflix and chill"

either things are different in NYC or the Hispanics with carts don't know that rule. Srsly: icees; churros; and those weird, oily 'pork rind like things' that are in the shape of wagon wheels. oh, well. thank god they don't take benefit cards.

I attended high school in Wayne, NJ during the '80s. Our popular hangout was Buxton's, an ice cream shop and casual restaurant. I think it was part of a small chain because they had at least one other location.

My high school was in the city where there weren't a lot of 'hangout' spots nearby. If you didn't know someone with a car, you wasn't going anywhere to hangout. Before I started high school, I thought afterschool hangouts was the norm. But once I was in highschool, I was always involved in an afterschool activity, marching band, track, etc and always had homework to do. Didnt really have time to go to a 'hangout' except after a football game.

I was home schooled, so had no friends. My after school hangout was my bedroom.

Kind of. There was a Blimpies close to our school and a bunch of people in our circle worked there. So it kind of became the "meet up" spot for us. It wasn't a hangout for the whole school, but our group of friend was there a lot.

Please stop.
