Why this have so poor rating?

why?

It's a bad movie.

The international cast is a big mistake, nearly everyone is miscast, Lambert is a cutie but can't act for sh!t, the sermon scenes are banal and shallow beyond belief and Ed Harris is more sympathetic than the hero.

Wasted opportunity.

Agreed. The international cast is quite problematic in carrying off this film. Though it is a good cast assembled, something is lost in the translation. Lambert is totally wrong for this part, being a French actor with very limited English. I feel that Holland would have been more effective had she worked with an all Polish cast. We can deal with subtitles to get substance.

Also it's more a memorial to the murdered priest than the exploration of a plot. If people simply wish to honor their murdered priest, fine, and see the anguish of his killer but I wished to watch more of a story. I'm afraid I was looking for entertainment.

I thought it was a good movie actually for an international audience despite being very Hollywood-esque. I agree Lambert was a mistake and some things here are inaccurate, but the rest of the cast was wonderful. It also presents a sympathetic picture of the murderers, so I imagine Poles, especially those who knew Fr. Popieluszko would be highly offended. If I had known him or grew up in Poland, I likely would hate this film too. As of now, I give it a 7/10 as an engaging film. Another was made in 2010 I think from Poland with actual archival footage and pictures, I give that a similar rating 7/10.

Their Pope JP2 miniseries is excellent though, the best on jp2, a 9/10,imo.
