Can't believe so many people love this movie on this website

After looking at the reviews on this website and watching the movie, I can't figure out why so many people love this movie. This movie is not scary at all. The scare crows are creepy but thats it. The plot is horrible as I found myslef struggling to keep on watching. Total waste of time!

I'm sure some people love it, but I think what's really notable is that it's not as bad as you'd think it is.

There are some laughable moments. Like the shot of the plane flying over the field they use 4 times. 2 of those times are right in a row. The editing is wonky. The plot, like you said, is... strange (I'm pretty sure even if military pilots did have their daughters as copilots, they wouldn't wear off the shoulder sweat shirts and open the cock pit window for the wind to blow through their hair). Also I rewound and laughed at the first grenade explosion (when the dude throws it out the plane) 3 times.

But there was something actually creepy about the movie. I closed my patio door I got so creeped out and I'm not easily scared at all. Plus the characters ended up being somewhat interesting. Is the guy who steals the money the bad guy? You start out thinking he's the main character, hear his thoughts. Then you simpathize with the 3 others, and even the daughter is eventually desperate for her captors to survive. I mean it's not that deep, but it's still more interesting than your average 80s low budget slasher.

I happen to be in Michigan at the moment, had I been at home in Philadelphia, maybe I wouldn't have been creeped out at all, but IMO this movie is greater than the sum of its parts. Not great, but a lot better than one might expect.

the goofiest part is the voice-over we hear of the guy who parachutes out with the money,
but his voice-over sounds exactly like the dialogue of his comrades, which sounds exactly like the radio traffic as well, so it's very confusing if we're listening to internal monologue, a person near him, or a person on the radio,
and then he dies because he wasn't the protagonist anyway... so why do we hear his internal thoughts and no one else's at any other point in the movie?

Ok there are a lot of horror movies that aren't scary that are still good. This movie isn't scary and it definitely is NOT good. Why were the scarecrows barely even in it and then killed off SO easily? This movie could have been a great film, it could have featured great scarecrow mayhem. Total disappointment.

Thank God for abortion!

This was a real turd of a movie. Surprised it gets so much love. "I think this place is haunted by demonic demons." -- what dialogue! Female commando applying "rouge" to her face? wtf?? These dudes were pathetic.

The "demonic demon" line was obviously supposed to sound stupid, as the other guy scoffs at how stupid "demonic demons" sounds within the film.

The movie wasn't bad, mind you. It wasn't what I'd call a horror classic, but at least it has somewhat interesting characters. For being bad guys, they weren't really that bad, and all showed someone tender, caring and vulnerable sides within the movie. You don't really get that type of characterization in horror movies anymore, which actually surprised me. Where as they were pretty unlikable in the beginning, they were somewhat likable by the middle.

character development was non-existant.

It's bewildering and something I have to chalk up to nostalgia.

The credits start rolling at 1hr16mins yet the movie feels much longer and was honestly boring. That's a sin.

The only thing this movie has going for it is the synopsis (armed militants facing killer scarecrows) and 2 or 3 instances of decent gore. Everything else is poor.

Almost no back story or character development, poor acting, barely passable cinematography, bland OST, bad editing, feels overlong and padded out whilst having a very short runtime.

The thing is this movie sinks low but never enters 'so bad it's good' territory. Those movies often make you laugh via poor acting or bizarre dialogue, have some over the top outlandish concepts or at least some beautiful women taking their clothes off. This movie does none of that. It's cheap and amateurish whilst being bone dry and a seemingly serious attempt at a horror movie. This movie is dumb but not funny.

This is a homeless mans Predator with scarecrows instead of aliens.

I think the only people who champion this are people who rented it on VHS as a kid and thought it was cool and scary.
