what do you think is the best Rambo film?

what do you think is the best Rambo film?

all of the four parts have their distinct qualities, and all are definitely some of the finest thrillers / action movies.

however the first and the last one seem to be less exaggerated and should be more appealing to general audiences..

First Blood
Rambo
Rambo: First Blood Part II
Rambo III

Rambo had the best action, though, with Rambo III in a close second. I like Rambo II a lot as well because James Cameron did an awesome job. However, First Blood is the best in my opinion.

Rambo (The greatest action movie of its time)
First Blood (The type of movie which leaves impressions in a young mind)
Rambo 3 (When this came out, I was a teen and it was so glossy and perfect but isnt now)
Rambo 4 (Good end to the series)

I couldnt really say which ones the best. But the first one had cheesy dialogue, the second had cheesy action scenes (rambo doesnt get hit by bullets aimed at him when hes a sitting duck) and III is pretty standard and ordinary

I havent seen the fourth but I assume its just a dead horse being whipped and it bears the mark of one too many trips to the well.

So I would say Rambo III is the best.

Numero uno :),Rambo first blood 1 off course.

1. Rambo: First Blood Part II. The 1st one I ever saw in the series (at age 5, lol), which is probably why it's my favorite.
2. First Blood. The most plot-driven film, and has the best acting of the series.
3. Rambo III. Plot is very dated, and Stallone seems bored.

(I haven't seen Rambo (IV), so I can't rank it)

1. Rambo III- definite favorite of the series. Just constant balls-to-the-wall action with a great setting and Stallone sifting through mines with his blade.
2. Rambo: First Blood Part II- brilliant action classic that has an excellent story and some of the best sequences of Commies getting Stallowned.
3. First Blood- magnificent book-based flick. Nice action, great plot, etc.
4. Rambo- excellent violence-driven modern action flick with a great 'return to form' for Stallone

This is an interesting comparison of films. Since "First Blood" is so drastically different than its sequels in that it tells more of a story and has a social commentary while the following movies were over-the-top action movies. So it really just comes down to what you like better: movies with a competent story and social commentary (First Blood), over-the-top action movies (Rambo: First Blood Part II), over-the-top cheesy action movies (Rambo III) or contemporary big budget action movies (Rambo). These descriptions aren't meant to insult any one of these films, for example I enjoy movies with complex original scripts/stories and mindless and/or cheesy and/or action movies, all for different reasons. However in my humble opinion I'd rank them best to worst in the order of their release.

henry_the_horse; you are the best example of simple people liking simple films, people who see only the surface but not the depth - if it's not fully shown to your eyes. People who wouldn't notice a spiritual depth and life-changing lessons in some Disney films just like in Rambo III only because of the artistic stylization of reality... which might explain why some people are unable to make their own personal idea of the meaning of an abstract painting they see in front of themselves, only because there's not anything concrete shown in it.

For your info, all Rambo movies are famous for their social commentary and philosophical meanings that became the most relevant and universal around the world since Rambo: FB part II came out. And honestly when it comes to story itself, Rambo II had a lot more complexity and depth than the first one probably due to Cameron's input. First Blood is not different in anything from other sequels at all, to others it is as much cheesy silly over the top action film. It just depends on the taste and what kind of vision and style you prefer in movies. Well, in my humble opinion, i'd rank them in terms of the overall cinematic quality, which goes as obvious: III, II, I, IV.
