The first time Mike Leigh disappointed me.
The movie was just so aimless. I honestly just didn't see the point of it. It's not necessarily a bad movie, it's just disappointing with no narrative.

sharePersonally I really rate it, it's not meant to have a archetypal story - beginning, middle, end - it's a snapshot of these people's lives. I enjoyed spending time with them. Philip Jackson's turn as Martin was hilarious and one of my favourites in any Mike Leigh film.
shareI don't mind the nothingness narrative. I quite liked "Naked" which probably is even about less, but I found the pacing weird in this one.
