Bad Title

I think the movies title makes no sense!!! What is The New Blood supposed to mean? If you were to choose a better title what would it be?

reply

Well i guess it means Carrie new power, like new blood for jason?

I would chose something like.......Friday the 13th Part VII: Jason's equal

Just as crap really.

EAT THIS!!!!!!-Hicks
{no matter what happened in alien3 hicks is alive.}

reply

The title is most probaly due to the new victims. In this installment Tommy Jarvis isn't involved or any other of Jasons targets. Therefore the victims of this movie are new blood for Jason

reply

Yeah, that's what I always thought it meant. Tommy Jarvis was in the previous three installments...and one of those was from the earlier of the films. Jason is supposed to have been chained at the bottom of the lake for many years between part VI and part VII...so, I think "THE NEW BLOOD" was supposed to mean a new generation of victims.

reply

That's correct. According to John Carl Beuchler, the movie's director, Jason's been chained to the bottom of the lake for ten years now, (meaning the movie takes place in 1998-99). Tommy's moved on, and these are the new cchildren jason is meant to prey upon.

reply

It takes place ten years after TINA'S CHILDHOOD, which is feasibly the same time as Tommy Jarvis' childhood.

reply

"It takes place ten years after TINA'S CHILDHOOD, which is feasibly the same time as Tommy Jarvis' childhood."

No, during Tina's childhood scene Jason was already chained to a rock at the bottom of the lake, and it was adult Tommy who put him there in part 6.

The main events of part 7 take place in 2004 or so. Part 1 took place in 1979, parts 2 through 4 took place in 1984, part 6 took place in 1994 (Tommy was 12 in part 4, and at least in his 20s in part 6), and part 7 takes place at least 10 years after that.

reply

R u suggesting that the beginning takes place n 1984?

-It's supposed to take place in '98-'99...interesting I didn't know that. I guess it could, except for the music lol. They should've used newer looking cars, the Jeep and the Volvo worked, but the mom should've had a more modern looking car like a Ford Taurus or something instead of that older car to make it seem like it was the late nineties. I just assumed it was still the 80s. Anyways trivial things aside, I like the title I think it makes sense, like was said the new kids are the new blood but more so Tina is the new blood because she's not like any other teenager/victim Jason has encountered before.

I suppose if I had to pick my own Friday sequel title it would be...

Friday the 13th part VII: Death Curse

Kinda obvious, though.

VII: Weekend at Camp Crystal Lake.
VII: Jason Lives....Again!
VII: The Not-so Secret beneath the Lake
VII: Camp NewBlood
VII: The Drowning
VII: TINA (a take off the title "Carrie" and everyone shouting Tina's name.)

or as it says in the trivia section "Birthday Bash" as the alternative title.

i like the "VII: Jason lives....Again" title, it's a good one, how about.

VII: NEXT GENERATION
VII: JASON VS TINA
VII: THE MAN IN THE LAKE
VII: RETURN TO CAMP BLOOD (refering to Tina's return to the camp after killing her father)

Even though the director states it was supposed to be 10yrs later, I don't buy it. I wrote why on my website's timeline, but I'll repost it here:

October 13th, 1984

Young Tina kills her father with her telekinetic powers.

Evidence: We are shown Tina’s flashback in the beginning of the movie but we can only guess the year that it happened in. It appears as though she’s aged about 10 years after her flashback, but I don’t believe they ever state her age. During the flashback scene, I think they just wanted to show us that Jason was down there for awhile, I don't believe they were implying that Jason had been under the water when her father was killed. Read My Thoughts for an explanation of this.

My Thoughts: There is a huge problem with the flashback scene which has been causing large debates on our message board and in our chat room. It seems that right in the beginning of Tina’s flashback we are shown her house, and then the camera is brought down underwater where a fresh Jason is tied to the rock, just as Tommy & Megan left him in Friday The 13th part 6. Then we see her father killed. 10 to 15 minutes later we watch Tina try to bring her father back, but instead she brings Jason back. During this scene Jason is all of the sudden rotten and basically falling apart. Some people believe that Part 6 took place 10years before Part 7, giving Jason the chance to be underwater during John Shepard’s death. I don’t believe that’s possible only because Jason’s body with all the water, fish, etc would be gone, or at least much worse then he appears when he comes out of the water. The only solution I can think of is that Part 6 & 7 happened during the same summer. Of course the flashback takes place at the most 10years before when part 7 is supposed to have happened. If older Tina arrives at the lake a month or so after Tommy & Megan put Jason under the water, that would give Jason’s body enough time to deteriorate with all the fish eating him, and whatever other damage the water caused, and it would give enough time for his body and the rock he’s attached to, to drift along the lake and move from Camp Forest Green to in front of Tina’s house. The evidence which supports this theory: When Jason is at the bottom of the Lake in Part 6 there is the Camp Crystal Lake sign under him, but when we see him in Part 7 there is no sign under him. Also he would have had to drift along as Tina’s family home has been there for years, and we know Camp Crystal Lake has been there since 1935. It wouldn’t make sense for in Part 1 there is a camp, in part 2 there is a camp with run down cabins next to Paul Holts training center. Part 3 across the lake, or at least a little ways down the lake. Part 4 around the lake, Part 5 not even close to the lake. Part 6 is at Camp Crystal Lake again, which has been renamed, and fixed up. Tina has to live somewhere else on the lake, and his body just drifted. I’m sure I’ve confused you even more now

If we were really supposed to buy into it being 10yrs later, they should have put "10yrs later"

I would have gone for something on the lines of Friday the 13th Part VII: Jason Unchained (or Unleashed). The New Blood title looks a bit odd in retrospect because Tina's character didn't have the same legacy as Tommy's so Part VII ends up being yet another homicidal outing.

reply

I like your theory, but the problem is the town has been renamed Crystal Lake. I find it hard to believe that the town would have rushed to take down all the signs that say Forrest Green and replace them with Crystal Lake signs during the same summer.

I would have simply called the film Friday the 13th Part 7. No subtitles. The title of Friday the 13th Part 7 is long enough. And no roman numerals.

reply

Thats possible. Heck anything is possible. In the real world a town name change would probably take a long time. But in movie world when its something that serious I can see it being quick.

When Jason is at the bottom of the Lake in Part 6 there is the Camp Crystal Lake sign under him, but when we see him in Part 7 there is no sign under him.

The sign could have moved. How could a huge rock that Jason was attached to move in a lake? Unless there was a huge storm or tornado/hurricane.

New Blood = no Tommy Jarvis.

You'll get the message by the time I'm thru

reply

Part 6 was subtitled Jason Lives and Part 8 was subtitled Jason Takes
Manhattan...so I'm thinking Part 7 should've maybe been called Jason Unchained
or something in better relation to the movie....

reply

I guess so, it's still in pretty good relation, though, cause it's a new storyline. The Tommy Jarvis storyline was discontinued hence, "new" blood, meaning Tina. Jason Unchained would've been cool, though, but in all fairness the subtitle does make sense.

Should of called it Friday the 13th: Jason Goes Full Retard

reply

good one

how bout jason goes to *beep*
or death of good friday 13th movies
or shi#@y movie

reply

They often put "new" in the title so the audience would think it wasn't the same old rehash ("New Blood," "New Beginning").

Actually, the telepathy was a fresh touch here. How about: "Friday the 13th Part VII: Mind Over Matter"?

reply

How about Friday 13th Part VII: Jason In Love.

Tina and Jason make a great couple. lol

Those are all great. I would choose Throngar cause even after all these years I still don't know wtf it is. Eddie and Ben were having an affair I think and throngar was probably some sort of code between the 2 of them. Ben was obviously a big flamer I don't know how Kate couldn't see this. :)
